Faster mobile browsing with Skweezer

Greenlight Wireless Corporation recently announced the release of a free version of its popular Skweezer portal that reformats Web pages, searches, and e-mail for handheld devices, such as PDA's, smartphones, and most XHTML-enabled cell phones. Skweezer optimizes Web content by reformatting Web pages so that they are easier to view, load faster, and have a smaller file-size. Mobile Internet users can access the free version of Skweezer by visiting their website from any wireless data-enabled handset. This technology compresses and reformats Web content being downloaded to the user's device and thus it costs less money to view. The free version of Skweezer portal also lets you to set up a free personalized account, where you could save your favourites, contacts, and e-mail settings. According to Greenlight Wireless Corporation, one is also possible to import favorites from a desktop computer straight into Skweezer.

Skweezer lets you view content in three different "View Modes": PDA View, Text-only View and Standard View. The View Mode depends on what kind of device you are using and how fast (or slow) your wireless connection is.

1) PDA View displays Web sites in a way that is optimized for most handheld devices. Images are visible and content is compressed and stacked for easier access and faster loading. This View Mode works well on most Pocket PC, Palm, Symbian, and Windows Smartphone devices.

2) Text-only View displays the optimized Web site without images. This View Mode offers the greatest amount of file compression and is good for XHTML-enabled cell phones, other devices with very small screens, and slow wireless connections.

3) Standard View keeps the original layout of the viewed Web page. This is useful when browsing the wireless Web via a laptop or a PDA that offers "landscape" browsing. The Web page will still have a reduced file size, though not as significant as with the PDA and Text-only Views.
