Foxconn confirms 4.7" and 5.5" Apple iPhones

Today Apple is holding its annual WWDC in San Francisco and that should see the debut of the iOS 8. The iPhone announcement have previously taken place on the WWDC too, but not since the iPhone 4S went official in October 2011.

Sure, as the announcement gets closer the iPhone leaks get more aggressive. We've already seen a 4.7" alleged iPhone 6 leaks from all corners of the globe. And while we are still wondering if Apple will change its pattern again, Foxconn has stepped up and spilled the beans on Apple's plans.

Foxconn issued a press release today, saying it is going to manufacture the Apple's 4.7" and 5.5" iPhone models in 2014. It will start shipping the 4.7" iPhone (probably 6) in July, while the 5.5" iPhone will enter mass production in August. Foxconn also claims it will account for the 70% of all 4.7" iPhones by 2015.

5.5 and 4.7 inch iPhone will be manufactured by Foxconn in 2014

MUMBAI, India - June 2, 2014

Foxconn, world’s leading manufacturer of computer components and systems, is going to manufacture both 5.5-inch and 4.7-inch iPhone in 2014.

According the sources, Foxconn will supply 70% of the 4.7-inch iPhone shipments for 2015. The 4- and 4.7-inch iPhones will be the main sales force of Apple for 2014. Foxconn’s plants in Zhengzhou, China are expected to start supplying the 4.7-inch model in July and start manufacturing the 5.5-inch one in August.

If everything is true then we are most probably going to see the 4.7" iPhone 6 go official today, while the 5.5" iPhone will be pushed back for the fall.

WWDC is just hours away, so we won't need to wonder much longer. Stay tuned!

The operative word is "yet". The iPhone doesn't utilize 64-bit apps yet, but as I stated, a lot of advances can take place over the course of a year. 64-bit is the future, it will inevitably happen. It's a major head start and a tech ...
