Galaxy S26 Ultra to use the same 5x telephoto camera as the S25 Ultra
With the iPhone 17 launch now behind us, attention has shifted to the Samsung Galaxy S26 series with new leaks pouring in every other day. We’ve now got more details on the top-of-the-line Galaxy S26 Ultra model.
Just yesterday, Ice Universe noted that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature a downgraded 10 MP sensor for its 3x telephoto camera. Now, the tipster has followed up with new details about the 5x telephoto unit.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra will use the same 50 MP sensor from the Galaxy S25 Ultra for the 5x telephoto camera, the tipster claims. The 1/2.52" 0.7μm 50 MP sensor was also used on the S24 Ultra and Samsung could use it on the Galaxy S27 Ultra as well.
Galaxy S26 Ultra rumored to sport a thicker rear camera bump
It looks like the Galaxy S26 Ultra may not offer any major camera improvements, which is sure to disappoint many users. However, a recent rumor claimed that the camera bump on the upcoming Ultra would be twice as thick as that of the S25 Ultra. Will Samsung improve some of the other two cameras? Only time will tell.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S26 series in January next year, with the lineup rumored to include the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.

That's for the current iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max. Last year's iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max and 2023's iPhone 15 Pro Max have a native 5x zoom camera.

I still don’t get how Samsung shows off new sensor every year and then doesn’t use them. S25 ultra should have had Jn5 selfie, hp9 for 5x tele. The 3x should have been upgraded to a 50mp like the ultrawide. S26 ultra should have 1 inch main S27 ...
