EU Energy efficiency class - definition

Glossary

The Energy efficiency class is a key rating on the EU Energy Label, which is mandatory for all mobile phones and tablets sold in the European Union after June 20, 2025 in accordance with the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/1670), which aims to make consumer products placed on the EU market more sustainable by improving their circularity, energy performance, recyclability and durability.

The Energy efficiency class runs along a scale from A to G (A being the highest efficiency and G being the lowest efficiency).

The Energy efficiency class is assigned by dividing the "Battery Endurance per Cycle" duration, in hours, by the battery capacity, in Watt-hours.
