Google and Reddit expand partnership, will bring easier navigation to the platform
Reddit is notoriously known for having a bad search engine, and for years everyone preferred to use Google Search, instead of the platform's own.
Today, the platform revealed that this will not change, but rather the partnership with Google will expand. Google will gain access to the network's Data API, and in return, content and communities will be easier to find.
Reddit builds upon its existing partnership with Google Cloud and will integrate new AI-powered capabilities to improve the website, the two companies confirmed. Google will facilitate more content-forward displays of Reddit information, making it easier for people to participate in Reddit's unique conversations.
Google also said it will use the Reddit Data API to understand content and display better and train its engine to use the information in more accurate and relevant ways. The expanded partnership will not change Google's use of publicly available crawlable content for indexing, training and displaying Google products.
