Google Home is now available, Chromecast Ultra starts shipping, Daydream View headsets too

Google Home is now available to buy from Walmart, Best Buy, and Target. The smart speaker that's infused with Google Assistant can be yours for $129. It's Google's direct competitor for Amazon's Echo line, which means you shouldn't expect it to ever be sold by the mega-retailer. Google Home is a US-only product for now. Aside from being able to talk to it and ask it various questions, you can also control certain smart home devices (the list of supported ones should grow in the future).

The 4K Chromecast Ultra which Google announced alongside the Home speaker has started shipping today, for those who pre-ordered from the Google store. The $69 device isn't officially available in any brick and mortar stores yet.

And speaking of things that aren't officially available, the Daydream View VR headset should only be out on November 10, according to Google itself. That said, some people who have pre-ordered the Daydream View are starting to receive their units, which have been shipped early. That would normally be cause for celebration, but in this case there's a problem: using the headset requires an app called Google VR Services, which simply doesn't exist on the Play Store yet. We assume that will be published on November 10, so if you do get your Daydream View early, it looks like you'll have to wait a few days before you can use it.
