Google Photos on iOS updated with Airplay support

Enrique, 24 April 2017

We don’t know what has taken so long, but Google has finally updated its Google Photos app for those of you using iOS. The new update lets you take advantage of AirPlay for the purpose of throwing photos and videos up to your big screen. This way, you don’t have to crowd around a small screen to view those vacation photos you took with your DSLR that were uploaded to Google Photos.

Assuming it works like it does on Chromecast, you’ll be able to cast a photo or video using Airplay and search for the next one on your device. That way your library’s thumbnails aren’t put on display.

Google’s efforts to improve and update its Photos app have showed. It has pushed many updates to the app suite including an update to Google PhotoScan to remove glare, improved sharing on devices with slower connections, and the most recent update to Google Photos’ UI makes it easier to see where the on-device folders are.

The update is now live on the App Store or iTunes, so go check it out!
