I bought the Pixel 9 Pro in October, 2024. Today in April 2025, I'm using a Xiaomi 15 I ordered from China. My Pixel 9 Pro developed a bright green line on the screen and later a bright magenta line, which all online sources say is a hardware fault, and I am just done with Pixel. This is my second Pixel with a defective display, my Pixel 7 also had to be returned.

People depends on their phones, and when you pay flagship level prices, you expect the login the phone to be at minimum well-made. This is not the case with Google, who make shoddy hardware. The software experience does not make up for it, and honestly, the AI "features" were all useless trash that I barely touched, anyway.

The Xiaomi 15 is a great replacement for a premium-quality small phone and also by buying Chinese directly, you're not supporting the United States, which is also a bonus.

Back in days, Android OS's and devices were terrible though I'm quite happy about their improvements.

But having used Android for most of the past 15 years i think it is still superior in many ways based on what i want from a phone.
So, back to my question....any thoughts or advice?

Bane K., 05 Apr 2025You know, if you see trend with each generation. From first... morePersonally will never stick with any of these overpriced flagship devices as it costs too much (not that I cannot afford it, but can't understand spending so much for a phone), and what if breaks one day (usually breaks right after guarantee period expires)?
My cheap device is so far giving me more than I need.
Anyways, everone is free to choose whatever the device they want to.

From first gen HTC and LG's failing hardware and second gen, and through all generation to 7-8 generation not being good, you just can expect 9 to be good :). SO my advice is stick to Iphone or another brand, i just use Honor, cause i'm used to Android

After being disappointed with my Pixel 8 (small screen, so-so speakers, washed out display, so-so performance) i bought an iPhone 16 Pro. Couldn't get along with it so i sold it.
My question: Is a Pixel 9 Pro a good upgrade over the Pixel 8?
or wait for the Pixel 9a?
or get the Galaxy S25/S25+ instead?
                * my priorities are specs that are more better (albeit slightly) than the Pixel 8 on cameras, performance, battery life, speakers & audio, etc.

The best thing going for this one is it's size, the flagships have become so gigantic lately... At least the Pixel 9 Pro is only 6.3inch.

Anonymous, 01 Apr 2025OnePlus 13 -- Best PhoneI believe each phone has their own strength and weaknesses. And i think we can both agree OnePlus's strength is it's performance. Speaker output & audio is another. But cameras aren't. It has been its achilles heel.

Looking beyond AI and the price between the Pixel 9 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro, which phone can give you:
                                Better speakers output overall
                                Better battery life
Better screen display (in brightness, PWM, touch response, ppi, etc.)
                                Faster app loading
Front & rear cameras that show accurate and near-natural tones, white balance, dynamic range, low light and better video quality (stabilization, colours, etc.)

The tap and hold to select an object or a person from a picture, to copy to another picture, was working fine on my Samsung, and on Oppo X8 Pro, but I wasn't able to do it on the Pixel 9 series I tried in a shop.
Am I missing something or do Pixel phones really not have this feature?
