Google Pixel stars in a Nest ad, live images captured

Vlad, 19 September 2016

Well, here's something new. Shortly after a new rumor came to give us some details about the pricing of the upcoming Google Pixel smartphone, it turns out that Alphabet subsidiary Nest may have leaked it in an ad. Nest is currently showing a TV commercial in the Netherlands which clearly features a phone that looks exactly like all of the past leaks and rumors told us the Pixel would look like.

Sure, this could be a dummy Pixel and not a functioning device, but the design that's been leaked many times over is clearly all there. Take a look at the images below, taken from that ad.

This is the silver version of the phone, which will come with a white front and a white glass window on the upper part of the back. In the black model, the front fascia and the glass on the back will be black. And for both, the frame is metal and so is the lower part of the back. Here's the full video of Nest's ad:

Such mistakes very rarely happen, but they still do from time to time. Now all that's left is for October 4 to come and for Google to finally make the Pixel and Pixel XL official. The two have been rumored to share the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, 4GB of RAM, a 12 MP main camera, and launch with Android 7.1 on board. The Pixel should have a 5-inch 1080p touchscreen, while the XL will take it up a notch with a 5.5-inch QHD panel - both presumably AMOLED.
