HMD Fusion announced with modular design
HMD Fusion is the newest member in the series of post-Nokia devices from the brand and it aims to tackle the modular smartphone design with what it calls Fusion outfits.
These are interchangeable covers that can add all kinds of useful features from wireless charging to more rugged protection or a ring light for brighter selfies and live streaming. They attach via Smart Pins located on the back of the device and HMD will let you 3D print your own designs via the open-source HMD Fusion Development Toolkit. HMD will begin sales of its first-party Fusion outfits later in Q4.
HMD Fusion features a semi-transparent plastic shell with support for easy repairs similar to the HMD Skyline including fast access to the battery, screen, and other key components. HMD is also pledging to offer spare parts via iFixit for the next seven years.
The device is built around a 6.56-inch IPS LCD with HD+resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate and a 50MP selfie cam. The back houses a 108MP main shooter and a 2MP depth helper. The main sensor features electronic image stabilization (EIS), a dedicated night mode with RAW image processing and AI HDR.
There’s a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset at the helm with 6/8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage. HMD Fusion also gets support for storage expansion via the microSD card slot. The software side is covered by Android 14 with a promise of two years of OS upgrades and three years of security updates. Rounding the specs department is a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 33W charging.
HMD Fusion will start at €249 and will debut in Europe first, followed by a US release.

If it's not for me, it's not for most of others too. Again, this is overpriced.
