HMD partners with Pixelworks to bring more HDR displays to future Nokia phones

Ivan, 31 January 2019

HMD has extended its partnership with Pixelworks - the company behind the Nokia 7.1's HDR-enabled PureDisplay - to bring its visual processing solutions to future Nokia smartphones.

Pixelworks makes HDR tone mapping, support for HDR 10 content and real-time SDR to HDR converting possible. We were impressed with the Nokia 7.1 screen in our review so that's great news.

It's not clear which future Nokia smartphones Pixelworks will work on but we sure hope the upcoming penta-cam Nokia 9 PureView is among them.

If SDR to HDR was copied then first amoled screen was copied, first wireless charging was copied, nfc was copied and hdr in phone itself was copied from Nokia. Think before you speak.

This sounds interesting compared to competition.

The logo front exudes class considering it's Nokia. Not all people would do it which is why all the phones look always the same.
