HMD Touch 4G is a smarter feature phone with cloud apps
HMD’s latest device is an in-betweener, or a hybrid as the maker puts it – not quite a smartphone but smarter than a feature phone. The HMD Touch 4G is basically a reincarnation of the Nokia Asha series, giving users some smart features through cloud-hosted browser apps.
HMD Touch 4G is exclusive to the Indian market for now and runs a custom lightweight real-time operating system (RTOS) called RTOS Touch. Users can run the Cloud phone service, which allows them to access the aforementioned browser apps. Touch 4G also comes pre-installed with the Express Chat app, which supports text, voice and image messaging. Touch 4G users can also chat with Android and iOS users, provided they have the app installed.
In terms of specs, HMD Touch 4G brings a 3.2-inch LCD with 320×240px (QVGA) resolution. There’s a 0.3MP front-facing cam and a 2MP rear shooter with an LED flash.
The phone is equipped with a Unisoc T127 chipset and 64MB RAM. You only get 128 MB of internal storage but you can expand that up to 32GB via the microSD card slot. The battery comes in at 1,950 mAh and charges via USB-C.
Touch 4G also features IP52 ingress protection, a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as an FM Radio receiver, Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi (802.11n) connectivity. It can also serve as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot.
HMD Touch 4G in Cyan and Dark Blue
HMD Touch 4G comes in Cyan and Dark Blue colors. Pricing is set at INR 3,999 ($45) with the device now available from HMD India and ready to ship.
