Honor Magic7 RSR Porsche Design review

Design, build quality, handling
Welcome to the most interesting part of this review - our design and exterior inspection. The key aspect of Honor Magic7 RSR Porsche Design is exactly its design, as the name suggests, and Honor has given great attention to detail.

Honor Magic7 RSR Porsche Design has been crafted to be reminiscent of a luxury car all around. The rear glass has a hood-like design of a sport car with a peak line in the middle. The panel has a slightly curved edge to stress on the sophisticated build and look.

The hexagonal imaging module returns once again with an improved, symmetrical camera arrangement that resembles the car's headlights. While it is not the easiest thing to see or imagine, you will get it when the camera lenses reflect some light.
The hexagonal housing is huge and thick, but the Honor Magic7 RSR does not wobble on a desk because of its huge size. Even better, its weight is still evenly distributed across its entire body.

The frame is flat and made of polished aluminum. It is a fingerprint magnet, but a good-looking one for sure.
The front glass has the same subtle curve as the back, making for a pleasing symmetrical design. Honor has used NanoCrystal Shield. This is a nanocrystal glass developed by Honor for enhanced drop resistance and it comes advanced silicon nitride coating for enhanced scratch resistance. The coating's typical usage is on high-performance cars' components, and now it ensures superb scratch resistance for harsh meetings with surfaces like asphalt.

The Honor Magic7 RSR Porsche Design is IP68-rated for dust protection and submersion in 1.5-deep water for 30 mins. It is also IP69-rated for resistance against high-pressure water jets.
Are we thrilled with the new Porsche Design? We would not go that far. But it is undeniably unique and reminiscent of a sport car, which was the whole point of making it look this way. And we are sure fans will appreciate it.
Oh, and we can't but praise its protective case once more for its great leather-like exterior and soft hexagonal interior.

The Honor Magic7 RSR Porsche Design is available in the modern Porsche Provence color (the dark violet we have), and the classic Porsche Agate Grey (pictured below).

Let's take a quick look around the phone.
The front is a home to the 6.8-inch LTPO OLED panel with high resolution, dynamic 120Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision support.

The pill-shaped cutout contains the 50MP AF selfie camera and a 3D ToF system for face scanning and secure unlock.
There is a pretty invisible earpiece above the screen, which together with the top-facing sound outlet acts as a stereo speaker.
Honor has also put an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, which works great.
The back is quite beautiful despite, or maybe together with, the gigantic hexagonal camera housing. It contains the LED flash, the LiDAR system, the three cameras (primary, zoom, ultrawide).

The whole thing is thick and sticks out of the back big time, but it does not make the phone wobble on a flat surface.

You can also see the peak line on the back and the subtle Honor Porsche Design inscription.

The rear glass has a fingerprint-resistant matte finish.
The metal frame is all glossy, almost like a mirror. On the top is an IR blaster, a microphone, and one of the speakers. The bottom has the other speaker, the USB-C port and the mouthpiece.

The SIM tray is also at the bottom - it can take two nano-SIM cards. The phone also supports up to two eSIMs. And you can use a combination of two of those at any time.

The Honor Magic7 RSR measures 162.7 x 77.1 x 8.8 mm and weighs 228 grams - the same size as the Magic7 Pro, just 5 grams heavier. These measures, of course, do not take into account the thickness of the camera module.
The Honor Magic7 RSR has a unique design, which people can appreciate even if it is not their favorite. It is good-looking and incredibly durable.

The rear panel is something, and so is the camera module, but what's more important - it is a fitting addition to a car in the same color (wink, wink). But even if you are not shopping for a car accessory, you might find Honor Magic7 RSR is still a likable phone.
