Honor Magic8 Ultra is on the way with an upgraded periscope telephoto camera
Honor's flagship line of slab-style smartphones is getting an Ultra this year, according to rumors from China. The Honor Magic8 Ultra is now said to sport an upgraded periscope telephoto camera compared to the one in the Magic7 Pro.
It will still have 200MP resolution, so the upgrade won't come from there. The main camera in the Magic8 Ultra will have a sensor made by OmniVision, according to the same source, and it will be customized for this phone. It should have a big size, but just how big isn't mentioned.
Honor Magic7 Pro
The Magic7 Pro has a 1/1.3" type sensor for its primary shooter, it's unclear if the Magic8 Ultra's will be even larger. Back in May, the Magic8 series of devices was rumored to also include a Magic8 Mini, so it's looking like Honor is preparing a pretty significant revamp of the family. We'll let you know when we find out more.

Compare the bump of the oppo vs vivo, xiaomi or huawei. The oppo has the smallest bump of all of them, of course the sensors are smaller. Yes, variable optical zoom will take up a lot of space, but chinese brands are not afraid of that.

Well, if they plan to use zooms then we can expect tiny sensors and dark aperture. Samsung was just example how hard is to put bigger sensor without changing whole design and concept. Another example is Find X8 Ultra, which have still big camera...
