Honor X7b 5G unveiled with Dimensity 6020, 108MP camera and 6,000mAh battery
Late last year the Honor launched the X7b, a budget 4G only phone that stood out with its large 6.8” display and 108MP main camera. Wouldn’t it have been nicer if it had 5G connectivity? It took a few months, but now that is an option too.
Honor X7b 5G colorways: Crystal Silver Emerald Green and Midnight BlackThe Honor X7b 5G quietly appeared on the company’s website. A quick comparison shows that the old Snapdragon 680 is swapped out in favor of a Dimensity 6020. Besides the faster networking, this also brings more processing power if only because the 680 is such an old chip. Anyway, the Dimensity is paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage.
There are a few other changes to highlight. The ultra wide camera was dropped, but that was only a 5MP module. There’s no microSD slot and no NFC, as far as we can tell, which is a bigger loss.
Note that the X7b 5G is powered by a large 6,000mAh battery. The 4G version had that battery in some areas, though units sold in Europe and Latin America were demoted to 5,330mAh batteries for some reason. Either way, the charging is at 35W.
The phone does still feature stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is nice at this price point. Not that we know the price yet, but it can’t be too expensive.
For comparison, check out the Honor X50i and Honor 90 Lite, which also use the Dimensity 6020 chip and have fairly similar specs overall (save for the battery, both have 4,500mAh in the tank). The X50i launched at CNY 1,380 ($190/€175/₹16,200), while the Honor 90 Lite arrived in Europe with an MSRP of £300/€300 (but had solid launch day promos and is more like £200/€220 now).

Both series are overpriced here, so I don't recommend any of them for our locals with better options elsewhere

I wouldn't say the A0x series are terrible value for money. Look at the Redmi C series.
