                  ATTENTION ALL Ipaq 910c 910 914 916 users

Call HP support at 1800HPINVEN or 8004746836 at the promptsay Technical Support, then say handheld, then say IPAQ, then say YES, say yes for repair and they will transfer you to a tech support rep. Give them your serial number and ask them to open up a case for the bad audio quality, bluetooth issues and short battery life. HP needs to put out a ROM update to fix all these issues but they are holding it back because of the WM 6.5 pending release which could take 6 months. If enough of us demand the fixes to these issues, they will release the rom update. Call and demand a case number/ticket for your issues. If they say that they will replace the phone tell them that is not a solution. The most important thing is to get a ticket number for your case. We need about 100 people to call in and they will release the updates in a couple of days. Thanks for helping.

There is an adapter to let you do things like the charge the phone while connecting either the original HP headset or a standard 3.5mm headset. Google for:

Jay, 18 Aug 2008I like the phone but it took me about a week to get used t... moreI loved my iPAQ HW6940 and expected the 910C to have:
[1] better performance due to more RAM - Yes
[2] better UI and useability due to WM 6.1 - Yes
[3] ability to run more applications because of more standard QVGA screen size - Yes

                          And now for the shortcomings:
[4] higher resolution plus smaller screen size makes the screen fonts and virtual keyboard almost too small to read
[5] the A-GPS program (HP GPS QK Connect) worked fine in the HW6940 but the iPAQ 910C version gives incorrect messages and more importantly the GPS significantly longer before it "finds" the satellites
[6] the iPAQ 910C has a single micro-USB port used for charging, pc-sync, and wired headset. you cannot charge the phone (lets say in a car) and simultaneously use a wired headset without buying an additional adapter. i have not seen any alternate sources for wired headsets with a compatible micro-USB plug.
[7] the pc-sync cable is supposed to charge the phone, but the charge rate is less than the current drain if the phone is running applications with the wifi and gps radios turned on. imagine my surprise when my phone battery died when I though it was charging.
[8] speakerphone volume is low and is on the back of the phone. microphone is located where you would expect the speaker to be.
[9] SKYPE must be run without the Echo Suppression feature otherwise it will not pickup any audio from the microphone
[10] the camera software is very slow

I think that HP did a good job of customizing and integrating software for the 910C. For example the voice reply to email is a nice feature for the mobile user. The phone has an elegant business look. The recessed small screen makes the phone look dated.

The buttons for windows-start and windows-OK together with the four-way navigation pad make it possible to do many tasks, like reading email and browsing web pages, using only one hand. On the other hand, the rotary thumbdial and adjacent side OK button have not proved useful.

I wish I could get my old HW6940 back and wait until the new HP iPAQ Data Messenger is available. I would prefer to have a larger screen and a slide-out 5-row keyboard.

The biggest issue is the lack of 2.5mm audio port. The only headphone for this is the HP usb headphone in the box. Nobody makes an aftermarket headphone or even a miniusb to 2.5mm adapter. if you know of one email me please arikinthecity @ gmail

this is a very good phone, and HP doesn't make crap. Its only problem is low video recording resolution, it should be at least its display's size (qvga). But I'm waiting for a linuxmobile by HP, as Red hat is in the hands of HP, and that's the most stable OS ever made
