HTC A11 gets leaked, will be a 64-bit Desire mid-ranger

10 August, 2014

HTC is working on a new mid-range smartphone that should bear the Desire branding. For now, it's codenamed A11, and it's gotten the extensive leak treatment.

The A11 is going to be a mid-range offering, but one that will come with a 64-bit chipset - namely, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916). This is the first ever 64-bit SoC from Qualcomm, and it was unveiled in December of last year. It has a 1.4 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU, and an Adreno 306 GPU.

HTC's upcoming handset will also sport a 4.7-inch FWVGA (480x854) touchscreen, a 5 MP rear camera sans LED flash, and a VGA front snapper.

It shall run Android 4.4.2 KitKat with an HTC overlay on top. As you can see from the images above, it won't have dual front-facing speakers like higher-end devices in HTC's portfolio.

Although we don't have a release date to speak of (not yet, at least), the HTC A11 is said to be heading to Sprint in the USA. Also unclear is how much it will cost, but given the specs it should hopefully be decently priced.

They should release it with kit Kat. And after 1 month of release they should update the device with L. Users will see a real big bump on experience.

Kit Kat natively don't supports 64bit architecture, but with some code alterations it can. Again the s410 chipset is backward compatible with 32bit so native kit Kat 32bit could run in this chipset, though not including the real power of the chipset....
