HTC Desire 22 Pro announced with Snapdragon 695 and Viverse compatibility

HTC finally released a new phone - the Desire 22 Pro is the latest offering from the storied Taiwanese maker which has shifted its focus on VR in the past years. Desire 22 Pro is a midrange phone with a 6.6-inch 120Hz LCD, Snapdragon 695 chipset and 4,520 mAh battery. It’s compatible with HTC’s Viverse ecosystem and HTC VR products like the HTC Vive Flow headset.

The Viverse compatibility is the main selling factor here, letting you access virtual content from the Metaverse via the phone and a connected HTC VR headset. HTC is also bringing its Viverse Wallet to help you manage digital assets like cryptocurrencies and NFTs directly from the phone.

Desire 22 Pro also gets a 64MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture alongside a 13MP ultrawide lens with f/2.4 aperture and a 5MP depth of field module. There’s a 32MP f/2.0 selfie cam on the front tucked inside a punch hole cutout. The phone comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage which is expandable via microSD.

The software side is covered by Android 12 while the 4,520 mAh battery supports 18W wired fast charging, 15W wireless charging as well as reverse wireless charging. There’s a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and IP67 water and dust resistance.

HTC Desire 22 Pro comes in gold and black colors and will retail for TWD 11,990 ($404) in Taiwan and €459/£399 in Europe. Open sales in Taiwan start on July 1 via online and offline channels while EU buyers can place their pre-orders today and receive the phone from August 1.

Early-bird buyers get some exclusive freebies if they order before July 31 including an HTC shockproof case, an HTC wireless charger and an exclusive NFT gift which can be redeemed via the Viverse app.

I love this phone. If it's going to be sold in overseas like Europe, can it be sold back in the U.S.? And if by any chance sold in the U.S. again, can it be sold on phone carriers like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Metro, Straight Talk, etc.?

Snapdragon 695 for supposed VR phone? What...?

I love HTC and I've been hanging on to my htc U11 untill there is a nice replacement. Haven't found it so far. Maybe this Desire 22 Pro will be a nice one? Does anyone know if Edge Sense is on the Desire 22 Pro?
