I found a way to REMOVE some of the BS apps that at first appeared to me permanent eaters of my storage on the phone. Go into Manage Apps and tick down the list until you get to an app you want to remove. Select it and hit uninstall updates. You will then see a prompt asking if you want to replace app with the factory version. Click okay and the app will uninstall. Also, to make sure it's dead, click disable and unclick the blue box. Let me know if this helps anyone.

It's very, very fast! Unfortunately, it's very fast at accosting you with bloated crap. I've tried quite hard to minimise the spurious alerts and services running. Do people actually LIKE this HTC Dot View thing? No, I don't want to sign up to the HTC backup service; what is this, the Columbia Record Club? And yet, it's apparently impossible to truly stop these things, even if you disable them manually.
Or, ideally, remove them. When nearly 90% of your internal storage isn't available for you to use, I think there's cause for serious concern. No, really, turn off automatic updates because you're going to run out of room. I freed up something like 400MB just by rolling back to factory versions on things I don't care about, but 8GB should really be CAVERNOUS for my needs; this is a device that desperately needs root just so a basic pecking order can be established.
The bezel is a bit thick, so it may give you trouble even if your hands are on the larger side. I certainly didn't expect that those couple millimetres on either side would be so significant. Coupled with the lack of HTC's signature "chin", my grip on the handset doesn't feel very sure. But the biggest disappointment is surely the screen.
This isn't an IPS display. This isn't SuperLCD either. AMOLED? Nope. My 2007 Dell TN panels have better viewing angles than this and the colour temperature is QUITE cold. To top it off, there's no oleophobic coating, so using it at all results in skin oils everywhere.
I thought I was getting a steal of a deal at $80 with $35 credit on my account (so basically $45), but now I feel like I overpaid a bit.

I just got one of these with Boost Mobile, and I'm pretty happy with it so far except for the fact that even though I put a brand new 16gig SD card in it it keeps telling me I have insufficient space every time I try to download an app... Because there are so many apps I can't uninstall, for example, it came with Facebook preloaded and it takes up at least 50mb and I don't even use Facebook anymore yet I can't get rid of it... I'm also not happy with the fact that there's no flash on the camera which means no flashlight... I just found that out today when I went to use my flashlight app and saw it only lights up the front screen...

nikonmick, 19 Oct 2014Great phone.Period. To the naysayers who complain about ... moreI paid $179 AUD and I am extremely pleased. For a real cheap smart phone it's awesome. Why people are complaining is beyond me. You want a flash or any other premium stuff then buy a more expensive phone. This phone is incredible for the price you pay. Its speed is really good. Apps download very quick. My average download speedis 41mbps and upload 18mbps.

I think if this phone does not have basics like LED flash and it also has lower resolution screen, but what HTC has cleverly done is that they have made up this by giving a first in the segment 64 processor. And that is a good thing considering its price and I dont think U can expect any more considering its price tag.

Just got this and after a week of using am disappointed with it, its lags a lot and the screen is not as responsive. The lock button for me is situated to far away so is awkward.
I was a previous Lumia user and thought I would try something different but having tried this its a no from me WP OS is some much better for me more fluid.
I don't like the experience at all so moving away from this handset.

Good phone for the price. Flash would be nice and the camera could be better. Screen brightness is also pretty bad when tilted. My main problem is sending texts. It seems out of the 100 or so texts I've sent, I've had to power off my phone about 3 times because the messages won't go through. I thought it was something with Telus but it sends fine when I turn the phone back on. I'm not sure if anyone else has this issue but it's pretty irritating to have to power my phone down every hour

This phone in terms of quality for price is second to none. The quality of pixilation and the camera is superb and in my opinion trumps the iphone everytime.
Charges quickly and lasts the whole day with ease. 10/10.

slim, 23 Oct 2014Do not have LED flash lights....I big no no Wish I'd seen this before I bought it because I totally agree and am still in utter disbelief that in today's world anyone would manufacture a smart phone that's not smart enough to tell you that you missed a text message.

Fangor, 31 Aug 2014In my opinion HTC Desire 510 is a great mobile. I have HTC ... moreCheck out Nokia Lumia 1020 (and 818) and admit you were wrong :)
And back to the business. The Desire 510 seems... well, desirable. The only thing keeping me from getting it is the fear of ending up with an abondened device. Supportwise, that is.
