Everyone keeps saying it needs a flash. If you want a camera buy one. This is phone. It is meant to make phone calls and receive phone calls. I have only had my Desire 510 for just over a week and I have no issues at all. However, I bought a phone not a camera. Would you buy a camera and complain it would not make a phone call? Think about what you are buying not what you want it to be.

I've had my HTC Desire 510 for 6 months already and can find little fault with it.
            * The pre-installed HTC bloatware is an obvious nuisance unless you are willing to "root" your phone, but that could be risky.
            * No flash on the camera but that's fine for me. I use the camera to take snaps of things I want to buy, documents or advertisements in shop windows, and other things I need to retain for reference. My focus is on information transference, not photography for its own sake. If you are interested in professional photography - high res photos with flash and extended zoom, use a dedicated digital camera instead of a phone. There was seldom any situation where I needed high res, zoom, or flash. It is of course helpful to do your homework and research the type of phone which best suits your purposes before making a purchase.
            * The HTC Desire is excellent once you get it "trained" properly with regard to voice-to-text, the "OK Google" thing, and many other useful features.
            * I have noticed this phone is sensitive without a case. Even while screen-locked it does strange things like going into airplane mode, or disabling wifi or mobile data. As of now, I am shopping around for a decent case that is designed for Tradesmen, i.e a case that has a rotatable belt clip, where all phone functions can be performed without removing it from the case. Just found one today in ebay (originally designed for iPhone) and checking if it matches my phone's dimensions.

The truth is, a mobile phone cannot yet replace a computer and is not intended to do so. As a multi-tasker, I sometimes get frustrated by certain limitations, especially in relation to RAM on my phone (1GB only), but I often carry around a "hotted up" netbook in my briefcase when I am away from home/office and anticipate the need for high-powered data processing and multi-tasking. In my view, an upgraded netbook is still superior to any tablet I've seen, because it is still a "computer", it is highly customizable in terms of software (I run Linux Mint 13 xfce) and has hardware advantages - more usb ports, replaceable battery, removable SSD, VGA output, etc. My Asus netbook has been with me since I purchased it in 2009 while I was living in Hong Kong. Thanks to the RAM upgrade, the SSD, and the Linux OS, it can fairly be described as a SPEED MACHINE. Not bad for a 7 year old computer that still leaves modern mobile phones and tablets dead in the water.

In summary, I have found that the HTC Desire can perform almost all the useful functions of the latest iPhone, at a fraction of the price. We only need to treat it with respect, to understand it's limitations and particular idiosyncrasies, and find work-arounds to any problem that arises. There is no perfect phone, just as there is no perfect human being. Living with a mobile phone is a bit like living with people in this respect. We only need to be flexible, patient, and creative. Here endeth the lesson for today.

I had to purchase a phone quick on emergency bases I wish i never purchased this phone. It is a piece of garbage. i can't install anything on this phone. 4gig SD storage space so i upgraded to a 64gig and still i get insufficient space even when trying to save pictures on my SD card. No flash to the camera rotates by itself. PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE DON'T PURCHASE THIS PHONE UNLESS YOU JUST DON'T MIND WASTING MONEY. Eventually i will have to buy a much better phone.

The Desire 510 seems to be a good phone - it is just not usable because of poor design choices. It is crippled by lack of memory - cannot add apps, or even in some cases cannot update the apps already installed. The one I got has only 4GB, not 8. Several useless HTC apps that can't be removed take up much of the too-small memory. It works nicely as a phone, web browser and GPS if that's all you need.

Camera is always out of focus.

Desire is a bad phone. It has dialed 911 at least 3x on its own. Only a case that covers the screen will prevent it. Screen lock doesn't prevent 911 calls which are only addressed by a closed case. Lately, answered calls come up in speaker mode, settings do nothing to change this. Frequently refuses to charge, only taking out the battery and replacing it works-has absolutely nothing to do with cables. Keyboard is prone to error AND software will replace typed text with undesired words. Instead of answering phone often goes direct to voicemail. Terrible phone.

It was cheap but it still is a pain.

Not .theyhav e never got it right, always a trade off with htc you cant halve quality and price. Its the speaker volume or the screen sensitivity could be the battery. All i know is i used to like what htc offered. Now i hate the new stuff very dissapointed. Hey if you have that screen freaking out on you due to crap quality, layer the screen with scotch tape. Seemed to be a cheap fix for the most part but when the batter becomes low be sure the screen will go nuts again and type and call or... Delete whatever it desires.

Not a bad device, especially for its price. Has several problems with stability, but that's probably my fault.

I found that the device comes with lots of bloatware from HTC, so only get to use about half of the storage capacity for personal stuff.

Very frustrating. Does anyone have a clue. Please help.
