Got this phone in Jan 2015. Really had a tough choice between Huawei Mate7 & Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro.
The HTC clinches it with the usable memory slot with two sims. The octacore is no slouch as well, really fast and zippy.
Got the funky Dot View cover as well and in a world of iPhone6s and Samsungs, it is such an attention-getter!! Everybody I showed it to said "Whoa!".. This is turning to be the best phone I have used EVERRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Cons;
1)Music play. I remember the day HTC collaborated with Beats audio. That day has gone. No more Beats audio built in , the equaliser are very basic as compared to Dolby audio in Lenovo S930. Luckily 3rd party apps like Onkyo HF player has bring up the music player to another level. Unfortunetely hardware-wise this phone is a letdown. Starting with subpar stereo speaker, then the loose earphone jack, and below par included earphone. The earphone jack hole is so loose that any earphone can be detached by just putting the phone inside a pocket. In contrast with Lenovo S930 , the earphone jack hole is so tight that I can hang the phone on its own weight without the earphone jack detached.
2)Smaller screen. Not a con on its own. However when I start to compare with my previous 6 inch screen phone suddenly the 5.5 inch screen looks significanly smaller and 5 inch screen looks so tiny. On 6 inch screen somehow I can sqeeze all the frequently used apps in just one screen. So simple. However with the new 5.5 screen all those apps has to be spread out on 2 screen. For example whole using Google play music on 6 inch screen the artist or album will have have 3 item in a row while on 5.5 inch only 2 item can be displayed. I don't understand this since the actual size different is very small and both screen has same HD resolution. Maybe I am just too critical about this matter but just my personal opinion. Maybe if you upgrade from 5 inch screen you willl not notice this difference.
3.)Battery life. 2600mAh is fairly small capacity by current trend. I already consider this before buying this phone. However, somehow when the phone is idle the battery capacity is coming down quite fast. For example I usaully charge the phone overnight and removed the charging cable at around 6.30am with 100% capacity. After I arrived at my workplace at 8am suprisingly the capacity has gone down to 95-93%. However the usually can last up to 6-8pm with very light use and. Data on all the time but GPS off. Acceptable for my use but when usage slightly increase I have to start charging the phone using powerbank by 3-5pm. In comparison the Lenovo s930 on idle mode the capacity will drop to 99% by late afternoon and with heavy use and GPS,data always on that phone usually last up to 11pm. A noticable trade off for faster processing power I guess.

Finally a dedicated Desire 820s site.
I am living in Malaysia and bought the phone in January 2015 as a replacement for my Lenovo S930. It cost me about 300USD. I will make a short review here mostly as a comparison with my old Lenovo phone.
Pros;
1.Superspeedy- with 1.7Ghz octacore processor and 2GB RAM generally there are very minimal lag in processing any apps.Of course not as fluid as the Iphone or top of the line Android phone but significantly faster than all my previous smartphone.
2.Stereo speaker -this is the single most important reason why I bought this phone. Came from Lenovo S930 which also has stereo speaker, I cannot imagine myself ever using phone without it anymore. Unfortunately that was the last phone ever from Lenovo with stereo speaker.Compared to S930 the loudness is slightly lower and actually the left/upper speaker is slightly louder than the other speaker. In my pocket in fairly noisy surrounding I can't actually hear the ringing tone. Luckily the vibration is more noticable than S930.
3. Screen- HD resolution on 5.5 inch screen is adequate for me, even the old Lenovo S930 has HD resolution on 6 inch screen. The colour is more towards neutral as compared to Super AMOLED screen. Generally on par with S930 on brightness and contrast. The only problem so far few apps has not performed to the fulllest, for example Waze. Somehow the writing on the map cannot be read and you have to toggle the screen between potrait and ladscape mode few times to make the writing readable.Other apps no problem so far.
4. Dual sim management. Full 5 star!!. This phone only use nano sim so be prepare to change to new one if you are still using old mini sim. With micro sim a simple cut out will do. There is no label whatsoever for the sim tray. That mean that you can choose any tray that you want for your main sim or secondary sim. Unlike the old way in Lenovo S930 which require you to choose 1st sim which support 3G, 2nd sim support 2G only. In HTC 820s both sim can support 3G/4G you just need to switch it in the menu. Brilliant!Now I can use 3G data on both my SIM, but of course you can only use one SIM for data,call or SMS at one time. But conveniently you can choose SIM 1 for data and call and SIM 2 for SMS for example.SIM change in menu is immediate for call and SMS. However for data, SIM change can take up to 20 seconds.
4. Touch sensor for home,back and multitask is in the screen, however now I can see them all the time as the have backlight. This is a revelation as all my previous smart phone has no back light touch sensor. But I really beg HTC to actually place the touch sensor outside the screen as there is ample space around the the HTC label under the screen.
5. New 8mp front facing camera. Way better than any of my older phone. Just make sure there is enough light.
The cons will be continued in the following review.
