HTC Desire 8 (A5) will have a 720p screen

20 February, 2014

While the HTC One successor won't be coming to the MWC (it's getting a separate event instead) there's a good chance we'll see the Desire 8 at the show. There have been a number of leaks, including official-looking images but some details were still veiled.

Popular source of rumors @evleaks posted info on the HTC A5, a 5.5" phablet with BoomSound speakers and a 13MP camera, which sounds just like what we know about the Desire 8.

At 5.5" the 720p screen resolution will result in 267ppi pixel density. The chipset is a Snapdragon 400 with four Cortex-A7 cores at 1.7GHz and Adreno 305 GPU. This chipset is gaining popularity recently and powers Sony's Xperia T2 Ultra and Huawei's Ascend Mate2 4G.

The HTC Desire 8 packs great camera specs for a mid-ranger though we still have nothing on video capture (the chipset is capable of 1080p though and it'd be strange if a 13MP camera isn't).

The Desire 8 is expected on February 24, probably at the MWC.
