It shines, breathes, pulsates, etc. I still have the phone. Still works except for the touchscreen, which is really supersensitive and fuzzy now, after some kids have bathed it in some water this summer.

Funny, it still looks today like a prop from a sci-fi movie. ;-)
HTC should have made that trackball illuminated as well. That would have made this an awesome prop for Star Trek TNG

The video camera quality from this phone is BEYOND embarrasing, even for the time! I've seen feature phones from 2007/2008 that are WAY cheaper than this phone and it records better quality.

HTC hero has been my first smartphone (I bought it in 2009) and is still my smart phone. I've change the battery 3 times. Now I have watsap but it's extremly slowly, I'm going to try to root it (but I've no idea about that) in order to put programs on the memory card.
Will see I've I have to buy another one or not still..

Several versions of OS available now: 4.2(jelly bean), 4.4(kitkat), 5.1(lollipop). But 1.5! Throw it away!

It can be updated, just not with HTC's horrific bloatware to around 4.0.4, unless you have that crappy USA version.

Oh my god you guys throw the phone in the garbage. Walmart has 29 dollar 4 inch screen smart phones with new android 4.4 kitkat. You guys are on 1.5cupcake and I don't even consider that a valid o/s anymore

This will break all your hero hearts. You do realize this phone is so out dated. So so very slow. Not only can you never update this phone, yes I mean it. You can't, not even if HTC calls you on the phone and says yes you can. You can't. Sorry. The physical hardware inside your phone is barely fast enough to handle a visual image let alone upgrade the operating system. You can get a new HTC phone that's 40 times better than this one brand new for under a 100 dollars

I have a HTC Hero 1.5, I cant load whatsapp on this phone. it tells me the version is too old, any one got advise how to upgrade the software on this phone? and also if I can get a manual for this phone, I don't want a new phone I am very happy with this one.

My HTC Hero phone that am using is very good and very smart.my touch is not working,the phone fell off my hand while making call an use my foot to stop it from hitting the ground so it never hit the ground that hard but my touch isn't working,can't browse,can't watupps, can't take pictures with my phone just don't what to do please help me,Thank you have a nice day.
