Is the Desire alot better than this?
I notice that the Desire come with Facebook and other Networking apps.
Does the Legend not support these, or do you have to pay extra for them?

I have been waiting to buy a phone for the last one and a half month. Deciding to wait for the legend and desire, I spent my time researching on the available phones and to-be released phones. Cutting a long story short, any windows mobile running a 6.5 version was good but still was not preferable provided that android handsets were readily available in the market. Each feature has been scored twice, one by me(owner of Legend) and the other by a friend of mine (the second one) who has used it but does not own it ( Just to brush of a biased view since I own it). So this is how the rating goes for the legend (Max 10).
1.Touch screen sensitivity: 9/9
It’s a dream using this phone. It is sensitive to the slightest of touch.
2.Market Place (like Appstore): 7/7
Recently the apps crossed 50000 in the market place. Android is new and it will require some time to catch up with the AppStore, but with the rate it is growing at, it doesn’t seem to be an impossible task.
3.Overall Fluidity: 9/9
Screen transitions are very smooth, although in some cases if there are widgets using the network in the background, the screen transition takes a beating (although not very noticeable). FriendStream app by HTC is buggy. It tends to slow down the phone sometimes and once has even crashed it.
4.Battery: 7/7
My battery last for 2 days with moderate use (wifi for about 4 hours, 2 hours of mobile internet, 4 hours of calls, 3 hours of music). I have given it 7 because the battery can take a real beating if the weather widget with the animation is set as one of the home screens. It will last a max of 1 day.
5.Camera: 8/8
Good still images. Snaps during the day are clear and vibrant. I haven’t seen the pink spot yet which was there in the HTC HD2. Snaps during the night without the flash are also decent. With flash the pictures are average during the night. The snaps are grainy.
6.Form Factor: 9/10
The design seems to be perfect for me. It is very comfortable to operate single handedly and is very pocket friendly.
7.Aesthetics: 10/10
GORGEOUS!!! The aluminum body sets it apart from the other phones.
8.Music: 8/8
Music quality and volume are also pretty good. I was using sennheiser CX-300II headset. The music was clear and had fullness to it. Bass and treble were well balanced, although, there are no equalizer settings. I am sure they will include it in the next firmware update. The speaker quality is also very crisp but not very loud.
9.Connectivity: 7/9
Voice clarity is crisp. I haven’t faced any connectivity issues yet. Though I would like to mention the Wifi receiver is a bit on the weaker side. If your signals are weak, it is unable to keep a constant connection and keeps switching between connected and disconnected state.
All in all I would give this phone a 9. Now the question is are you ready to shell out another $100 for desire which probably scores more in fluidity (1ghz snapdragon processor)? The rest should be the same other than aesthetics. So buy Legend if you want the looks with good performance, or desire with blazing performance (mind you the battery life is compromised here because of the 1ghz processor) but with normal candy bar look.

Again one more question:
Is it possible to install application in the memory card or has it to be installed in phone memory by default like HTC Desire(in that case what's amount of instalable memory)?
Hope for a positive feedback.

Is there anyone to answer this question?
Does it have a virtual back key throughout the User Interface or you will always have to press the physical back button to get one step back or return to the home screen?
Any feedback would be highly appreciated.

I have just had the HTC Legend for a day and it's rather amazing! The touch sensitivity is a dream...free apps and games in the market seem incredible. The camera though a 5 mega pixels is pretty good and the video quality is not as bad I heard it was. Make sure you have a good internet plan so that you can enjoy this baby to the max! I'm having a ball with this one...and would highly recommend it...especially for all of you who have been waiting to play with an Android.

Battery problem.
After the first 2 recharges the phone lasted for 2 days, but now my HTC Hero's battery lasts for only a day per charge.
I installed a 8 GB card instead of the 2 GB one; should that be the problem?
How long does your phone last?

Tim, 29 Apr 2010Trust me. My sis and I have the Htc Legend.
We tried the W... moreWell I finally got my Legend and boy am I happy :D
Admittedly this is my first smart phone so there is a certain level of bias - but I am picky. That said, other than a few interface limitations and negligible lag when using system resource hungry apps, I couldnt be happier with it.
Looking forward to discovering more apps from the now 50,000 available through the Android Market :P
@Tim - I havent had issues with any of the radios including WiFi. I can use it from outside my home, flawlessly picking up signal from my Thomson tg585v7 wireless router.
Borrowing from another thread check the following:
1. No DECT/Wireless phones close by
2. Not behind your 42" plasma/LCD
3. Vary the channel that it's broadcasting on, there may be other wireless routers in the area all broadcasting on the same channel.
4. Put the router in as high a position as possible
5. Unless you have any .b devices in the house make it .g only, maximum broadcast strength. No fandangled burst modes.
