HTC One gold edition built by Gold Genie goes up for pre-order

17 September, 2013

The gold-colored shells of HTC One appeared in China a few days ago and we all thought that the Taiwanese manufacturer was preparing a "gold" edition of its flagship smartphone. Apparently, the HTC One in gold is indeed coming, but the device will not be sold officially by HTC.

HTC One gold is actually a custom made device by Gold Genie, a company that is known for gold plating popular gadgets and smartphones. The firm will also have a platinum and rose gold edition of the HTC One.

HTC One "gold" is a genuine HTC product with the addition of 24-carat gold on the outer layer of its design. The 32 GB variant of the special-edition will cost you £1,895 (about USD$3,015), while the platinum version can be all yours for a price tag of £2,095 (about USD$3,332). Lastly, the rose gold edition is priced at £1,995 (about USD$3,173).

If you got some cash to burn, then head on to the source link below to pre-book your HTC One special edition.

And if you don't really need a gold-plated HTC One, you might as well wait a bit. Perhaps HTC will come out with a version with a golden Champagne color instead. It would be much cheaper, that's granted.

Thanks Freddie, for sending this in!

At least it's made of real gold, unlike the gold-painted iPhone 5s which some iPeople actually think is real metal gold too. Yikes!
