I have the HTC M8 and i think that it serves well to blur the lines in between the two categories.

Guys, there is no such thing as the perfect phone! every phone has its downfalls and i think the fact that HTC don't have OIS on their flagships is a minor setback compared to the QUALITY of the product that they give you!
I personally think that if you wanted to have something so good included in a package like that, then you may be asking for too much. Go buy an SLR camera lol.

Mediatek is more reliable and stable compared to Snapdragon, the 810 has overheating issues. That's why Samsung and now HTC has given up on Snapdragon/Qualcomm

Totally agree with you... You just said what was on my mind... I wanted really to upgrade to M9 or m9+ but both missing important features like IOS & battery... & I feel frustrated about that.... Now let's wait for LG G4

mediatek cpu and powervr graphics didnt do good at all...ive seen a test conducted by GSMarena...hope htc hav tweeked it a bit ....otherwise its hopeless

Hav to wait and see for this phone...i dont feel like upgrading to M9 from my M8....this has the market required stuff that M9 didnt hav (figerprint scanner,qhd screen, 5.2 inch screen and etc)i rate M8 ahead of M9 dispite all the performance and camera improvements..and not to mention the overheating issue...what is this fuz about qhd on a 2850 battery??? sammy S6 has qhd on a 2550 battery...when M9 came out people shouted whr id qhd sammy has it why not on m9...now when M9+ has it u guys still whyning..

No OIS and once again the duo camera gimmick.
Same 2840 battery on a Qhd screen.
RIP battery backup.
Lets see how is real life performance of Mediatek on Qhd screen.
Don't know what HTC is doing.
First they disappointed by dropping OIS in M9 and worse battery backup than M8.
I really wanted to upgrade to M9 this year.

you guys seems to misunderstands the resolution of the front camera of this device,, the front camera of the HTC M9 is actualy the exact copy of the ultrapixel technology used in the previous M8 rear camera, soo, expect a really good selfie result from this phone

It should be waterproof and dust proof along with latest Snapdragon processor.
It HTC give's its best it can beat Samsung Galaxy S6.
I am impressed because its having fingerprint sensor.
And the Front Camera Should be more hd around 5 to 8 mp

I don't know about Mediatek CPU, or PowerVR VGA
but the rest seems nice.
i think we have to wait for the benchmarks.
but about the design!
it looks great, but i think, htc could do better on the front face.
maybe something like desire eye would be better. i mean putting the camera and sensors (and add a dual tone flash?!!!??)in the middle.
this way, the design would be more symmetric! (home button in the bottom middle, camera in the upper middle)
also, according to this pic, htc moved the navigation button to the black bezzal (like m7) which i like A LOT!
to wrap things up, i like this phone (more than m8,m9), but i think htc can work on it.
