Also metal can generate more heat than plastic and glass.

How unfortunate it is to have all the flaws of the M8 fixed with the M9 but the battery life that wasn't an issue with the M8 to become an issue with the M9.
There is nothing bothering me, yes, M9 is the perfect phone ever, in all aspects, but why the battery endurance to drop from 77h to 62h?
Since it's a similar design to the M8, we accept to drawbacks, but only enhancements in all aspects. if it's lollipop, then release a kitkat version. We want the battery issue fixed asap.

Why is it that everytime i look for the ideal phone with gsm arena advanced search, i end up only with Sony?
Criteras:
- to be available
- all ip certificates checked
- android platform
- minimum 2000MHz
- minimum 4 cores
- minimum 3GB
- minimum 32GB internal memory
- card slot
- minimum 3000 mAh battery
Result: SONY Z3, Z3 dual, Z3v.
Conclusion: my next device :)
Sorry HTC, I used to be a BIG fan, but Sony seems better..

Savor, 30 Mar 2015I really don't care what reviewers with their pretty boy me... moreThere is a word, Love at first sight. So, design definitely a factor. My one colleague use Note 3. He always connect it with his laptop for charging. His full battery back up near about 5 hours. On the other hand, I use Desire 816. It gives me two days full back up. My wifi is on near about 13 hours in a day. My desire dropped from my bike 4 times on road (Bike speed near about 45 KM) nothing happened, it performs as usual.If you want awesome camera, you should use Nikon or Canon DSLR. Because the sensor size of phone is small. My Desire 816 camera is pretty enough.I used Samsung, its touchwiz is boring and battery back up.LOL... My maximum friend use Samsung. All people average two times restart their phone due to hanging problem. However,its your own choice. I am pleased with the performance of HTC.

Hussein, 28 Mar 2015I disagree with you,, 175 experts for 2 years voted on this... moreI said m7 and one max are the most beautiful phones of htc or maybe of any brand. though they had a little larger bottom bezel. Where as M8 , M9 and M9 plus are ugly with irregular sized speaker grills .

All I hear about is DESIGN,DESIGN,DESIGN. Yet, HTC failed to fulfill key areas like battery life and camera which are far more important in the long run. They also followed Apple's lead of no more swappable battery.
I thought the Note 3 is better than M7 and Note 4 is better than M8. And this is coming from someone who owned M7 and despised Samsung products for years. But you have to be objective. Don't listen to reviewers that generally carry iPhones anyway. GSMA even awarded the iPhone 6 as co-winners with LG G3 for best smartphone of the year in 2014. The award should have went to Note 4 or iPhone 6 Plus.
Performance last. While HTC shines in a nice skin, design, display, and sound quality, they also fail in camera, battery (M9 is mediocre), iFixit rating, and no swappable battery. HTC is hardly perfect either.

Many reviewers have already claimed no issue of heating or slowing down of the phone.. Check pocketnow review on YouTube...no issue at all..
