Is this fone comming to the uae and if so where can i get it, and for how much. I really like the dual keypad, i dont trust touch screens, they only slow down the phone and i spent years in high school training my thumbs to work the number pad- it would be shame to waste all that hard learned skill! An being able to use it with one had, what a pleasure! The only other option is a nokia e75 but being a Nokia hater, i would need to swallow a lot of pride and my friends would never let me hear the end of it.

annoying how theres no way to get rid of the predictive text. it is applied to every text and you have to remove it. the camera would be better with a flash, mines faulty as it keeps turning itself off and the screen is going blank. i like the way the texts are saved the way a blackberry is. but and annoying phone. i'll go back to my c905

Bought this phone a month ago and could not be happier. I've upgraded from an antique nokia (4 years old).
If you are prepared to sacrifice touch screen you'll get an excellent smartphone at a decent price, with all features of the more expensive cousins.
This phone does have it's quirks, for example mine would shut off is you slam the keyboard shut(i'm guessing that memory card moves slightly, causing the phone to think that it's being removed improperly)
Otherwise, no complaint, would recommend this phone to anyone.

To anonymous: I live in South Africa too, and have no service complaints whatsoever. Their SA head office is located in fourways www.leaf.co.za. (Get used to the fact that the make is "leaf" rather than htc) Got this phone and very happy. The specs here says "radio:no" when in fact the phone has got an excellent radio.
Few other decent phones with qwerty and phone pad.You can type text messages while holding the phone in the same hand, which you can (so I've heard) use while driving.
The phone is way, way more responsive than the diamond, touch pro and the like. Maybe coz it's got the same processor, but with a non-touch interface. The phone is incredibly stable and responsive for a smartphone.
The non-touch screen does limit some software options.Handymap and TomTom don't work on non-touch screen. But Garmin (which I hear isn't that good) works, and so does Route66 (which probably exceeds TomTom). The only other app which I wanted which is not supported is Pocket e-sword. Back to GPS. The "Leaf locate" software is downloadable from htc, but don't seem to offer navigation. (can calculate a route though). Googlemaps don't do routing in SA, unless I'm doing something wrong.
Web browsing (I downloaded Skyfire) is excellent. I am in no way whatsoever limited by not having a touch screen.
In contrast to some reviews, the memory card is hot swappable. I bought an SD card folder with micro SD inside. That means I can take pictures with my *real* camera, then put it into the phone, and email or mms from there.

All my contacts was stored with "First Name - Last Name", but suddenly changed to "Last Name - First Name". Anybody know how to change back without doing it on each individual contact?

Clemen, 02 Mar 2009I have used the s740 now for 2 months and the battery life ... moreIn my case, the battery can last up to 100 hours and more. If I talk and use programs then the battery lasts up to 60 hours.
---
I don't like the material which was used to make the numpad and the screen. Fingerprints all over it.

I have used the s740 now for 2 months and the battery life in combination of talk and standby time is max.1 1/2 day not much of an improvement on the s710 that i used for 1 year.the reception of the 740is a disaster. The screen scratches very easy. And if you live in South Africa DON'T even think of buying it because the service from Leaf Wireless ,the importers, is arrogant, slow, inefficient and VERY expensive.

My experience after 1 month (new out the box):
The goods:
Small & compact (sleek design)
Links & updates with your PC
The Bads:
Very small "Make" & "End" call buttons (not easy to end a call)
Poor navigation - need to move from one menu to another just to read & delete a message
Battery cover keeps slipping off
No assistance with phone / network setup & config (heard from suppliers that MTN appears to be a problem - phone requires a reset to fix problem)
QWERTY keyboard very small and NOT easy to use (if you have big fingers like me)
Keypad and face scratches easily
