It's 800gms of weight. Who the hell is going to use the CELFON of this weight. And the price is 1,500 US$. I would rather go for Fujitsu very compact laptop

If you want an alternative for this one, considering a very tight budget, then go for the ASUS EeePC. usb ports, webcam, lan port, wifi 802.11b/g, mic, card reader speaker, up to 1 gig RAM and 7inch color tft display, though the 8gig hdd might set you back. But still considering its size which is only around 9-10inches. its not really bad after all for a gadget like this which costs only Php18,000.00 (for the 4gig hdd model) or Usd435. I can say its the gadget for those who can't afford hi-end laptop but really wants something close to it. Check out www.asus.com

Well i think this fone is quite caught up between being a mobile fone and a laptop. It's almost cool, but the price will really set you back. Furthermore, this one is pushed in the wrong arena. I mean this site is for mobile fones that works extra with images, video, music and making documents portable, so this one should be on another level. Coz its more like a umpc than a smartphone to me.

This is the perfect device minus the useless cell phone functionality for me...other than that it's small enough and portable enough to replace my PMP and with the keyboard is perfect laptop replacement cause i can still get work done. would be better if had a larger screen(between 8-10") but i wont complain...cant wait for it to be released. just praying it wont be priced out of my budget.

Ok, this is for example, a Nokia Internet tablet N770 or N800 competitor, and not a Nokia N95 competitor???

At this price I buy one DELL laptop CORE2DUO 2G RAM and NVIDIA 8600GT...and one Phone Nokia!...
"HTC, go back to the drawing board, and start from scratch. You need to limit the size and weight to that of HTC Advantage at max. Then, you need to put in GPS, minimum 4 MP Camera, FM and AM radio, TV tuner, 802.11n, Bluetooth version 2 minimum, Infra(to allow the device to be used for opening garage door, using Television, etc), and have mimimum 10 hours of continual use battery life. Of course, HSDPA and the lots. Don't worry about Vista. Use Window Mobile 7 (ce6 based OS) instead. If I needd Vista, I can always use remote desktop so it is not necessary to have a bloatware on this device. Also, team up with the folks in Java and micromedia to have the most up to date software to do real youtube and run webpages for stock trading on WM7 itself.

Do the above exactly, and you have a truly wonderful product."EXCELENT!This is also my opinion!Regards!

OK first off this device has NO Voice capabilities.. so those of you thinking you can just use it as a phone, you're wrong. the sim card will be for data services only, such as 3G intenet, sms, email etc. you would want to have a separate phone. It is ultimately a UMPC. for those of you who dont know what that is, inform yourself before you comment.
ALSO.... watch the gottabemobile video review before making any assumptions. this device is for people who love gadgets and are on the go. UMPC!!! its not a miracle, its designed for a specific purpose. being able to update an Excel or Pwrpoint document while walking to a presentation would make that $1500 worth it. peace.

engadgets' review saying this phone cost around $1500 US.

Pshhhhhh! @ that price I would rather buy Sony's smallest laptop and a slimmiess phone.

The battery is too weak for Windows Vista and is too big too hold and punch the keyboard and too small to use it as a laptop.

upcoming laptop generation will have GSM Card slot and allow you to make phone calls.

                              peace

It does ewerything what a propper gadget is supposed to do.

how are you going to talk in a 7 inch mobile phone?
which pocket will it ultimately fit in????

this is, if something a very compact laptop, and very poor specs wise, but i can't see how am i going to use it as a mobile, unless i use it as a mobile while working on the laptop.
very weird from htc, what are their expectations for this thing? i mean the specs of the laptop are very poor ,but the size of the screen is legendary. this is the first 7 inch laptop. one question comes to mind. how practical is the keyboard??
i would go for my 12 inches Vaio or even 14 inches Acer before coming to the 7 inches slow processor HTC.
this is a very risky product from HTC
i hope they know what they're doing

This will be a failed product, I'm very sure.
At this size, weight, and with this battery life, it cannot be used as a phone. It does not have an acceptable camera for picture and video taking (not taking about professional quality but certainly for ad hoc use).

HTC, go back to the drawing board, and start from scratch. You need to limit the size and weight to that of HTC Advantage at max.
