Anonymous, 10 Dec 2009does anyone know how to change the language on the handset?Beware guarantee clause, though.

You may have to revert to your original rom, if you need to "activate" your guarantee.

Anyway, I hope all goes well.
I've had mine for more than a year now, and i am VERY pleased with it.

The only thing i actually miss is a 3.5" audio jack.
Other than that I AM very satisfied with my Diamond 2 and I truly recommend it as a competent, reliable phone which is still small enough to be called "portable".

But still a resistive screen will not be capable of multi touch inputs hampering phone handling, probably supposed to be the most crucial selling point of WinMo 7.
Also there is WinMo 6.5.1. Probably it will be some comfort.

And I think Mircosoft has invested too much at this point with the heavy competition on WinmMo 7 to let it go down the drain ,like the Vista. As we Iranians say "a smart man doesnt get bitten by a mad dog ,twice"

In the face of Apple's OS and Google's Android, Microsoft is under strain to maintain their market position.
And about Touch Diamond2, it doesn't has a capacitive touch screen and this means WinMo 7's capacitive screen requirement can't be fulfilled by Diamond2.
This approach by Microsoft is very similar to what they did to Xp computers by bringing out Vista.
The only hope in future for resistive screen phone owners is that if somebody, probably at xda developers, bring out a skin imitating WinMo 7 like Xp Black did for Xp owners.
And also we should hope that WinMo 7 doesn't fare like Vista did.

******, 06 Dec 2009what's the difference between the 2G version of this phone ... moreDifference between 2G and 3G...
Well they are all about data download speeds.
So if you use your phone for internet browsing over your network provider (and not Wi-Fi) the speed of data download will increase considerably provided :
                  1. Your network provider is 3G compliant
                  2. Your phone supports 3G
                  3. You have 3G activated on your mobile no.

The speeds of 3G are in the range of 384 kbps to 10 Mbps. Diamond2 support maximum 7.2 Mbps. But the speed you'll get will be determined by your network provider according to your 3G data plan.
3G speed are also high enough to support videocall i.e. if the person you want to talk to has the above three requisite and plus he/she has a secondary videocall camera on his/her phone (which by the way Diamond2's 3G version has) you will be able to talk to them by looking at him/her on your screen and he/she will be able to do the same.

Diamond2's non 3G (or as you call it - 2G) version (by the way, it should actually be 2.5G cause it'll still support EDGE) will not support increased download speed and video calling and plus they will remove the front facing videocall camera.(This is what happened to original Touch Diamond here in India, cause we didn't had 3G then.)

                  P.S.
If you are wondering about EDGE, this data transfer technology (also called as 2.5G) supports speeds upto 236.8 kbps, but does not support video calling.

what's the difference between the 2G version of this phone and the 3G version?? Buying the regular 2G version of the phone is much cheaper. The 3G capable version of this phone is a lot more expensive. But is the price worth it?

But... are you sure you've chosen ringtones that are capable of waking you up? Are they loud enough?

Try to set them for like 3 minutes later and make sure they ring OR NOT and try to examine why.
Maybe, you're missing something that has a simple solution.

Anyway, here are some free alarms you can install:

                                        http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-tag-alarm.html

There are several paid ones. You may find them all over the Net.
