maybe it depends on what particular sw you are really looking into. for iphone, im quite sure its superior in terms of available games. i have an officemate with an iphone and he has games installed thatcan already rival sony PSP.
however, in terms of business related apps, windows pocket pc devices (e.g. TP2) are still on top. for more quality sw, with price ranging from 5 to 30 usd, you may visit sites like handango.com

Thanks a lot for the input Rico. I've also got a few more questions that I would like answered before I go out and purchase this phone for $700 Canadian. It's quite an investment so I'd like to make sure this phone is worth it.
1) I've read and watched a lot of reviews for this cellphone and I'm still confused about the battery life. Some reviews say the battery life is good and some say it needs daily charging (regular use). Can someone who's had this phone for a long time now, please tell me how the battery life is?
(rico)in my case where i recived and send 80 sms a day, voice call of 30 to 40mins per day and internet browsing of 3 hrs/day, im charging it daily.
(2)The last HTC phone I had was the HTC S710. I've always got full bars and reception was great. I now have the Samsung Omnia and I sometimes lose service in my basement. How is the reception for the Touch Pro 2?
(rico) reception is good. its comparable to nokias.
3) The build quality Samsung Omnia I currently own is great. How's the build quality of the Touch Pro 2? Any pain chipping? Is it easy to scratch? Any input will help
(rico) i have this TP2 for 5 weeks now. so far, no chipping. i accidentally dropped the unit to a concrete floor twice from top of a table 2.5ft high, but so far its still working perfectly. just make sure you install the screen protector day1.

If you go into a text message and select the text entry box, thus popping out the on screen keyboard, and then you slide on the keyboard, sometimes the device freezes. This has happened about three times out of six of trying this action. To avoid it, I've just been going right to the slide out keyboard"
(rico) this is not happening in my TP2.
That was a quote from a review I read. Does this phone freeze a lot? If this phone never freezes, then I'm going to go out and buy it right away after someone answers my questions.

yes you can assign mp3 as your ring tone. first, put the mp3 file in the root directory of your phone or memory card.
go to settings, all settings, personal, sounds and notifications, notification, then chosse your mp3 ringtone at "ring tone" drop down list.

I really want to let go of my iPhone 3GS but the lack of applications/software designed specifically for this cellphone worries me. I've checked numerous websites for hours and hours and I can't find any good software/apps.
Rico, I went to the website you gave me (http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/) and I found decent apps, but I was wondering, if you, or anyone here knows any good apps for this phone only.
It's going to be a hassle downloading and installing all those applications only to find out it's not compatible with this phone.
Any input from anyone will help, thanks again

hello again, at first there is this small icon the extreme right top of the screen and now its gone. i dont even know what was it. do u think there is somethig wrong with my phone? how can i see that small icon with lines and arrow down again just like the one in the pictures.. help me pls. i just got my phone yesterday so i really have no clue...

[rico] normal internet browsing is possible in HTC TP2. It has wifi and #G capable as well.
4) Is the touch screen as responsive as the iPhone?
[rico] iPhone is still "slightly" more responsive than TP2 as it is using capacitive screen. However, among windows mobile with resistive screens, HTC TP2 is already on top.
5) And free apps for this phone?

you will be able to download the software update via wifi or 3G to your PC. With your phone connected to your PC via USB and Active sync running on the PC, you will then be able to install the update to your phone.

2) I'm on a data plan (currently using iPhone 3GS), will the unlocked version of this phone be able to do what I normally can do on my iPhone 3GS?
3) Will this phone come out for Rogers or other companies here in Canada? I'd like to carry a phone that no one else has. I'm sick and tired of seeing so many people carrying iPhones like me. I'd like to be different.

yes, you can turn on only the wifi while 3G (phone) is off. just go to all programs then comm manager. you can enable or disable wifi and phone from there.
on your query about the cost of sending and recieving emails while in the US and assuming you will use your UK sim in roaming mode, your home network in UK should be able to answer you on this. they must a list of rates per US operator. its your home network that charges you while roaming.

Forgot to also ask - if I access my email accounts (ie send and receive emails) while I am abroad (I live in the UK and am going on holiday to the USA) how much will it cost? I have looked on the Vodafone website and it is no help at all.

Can you manually turn off the 3G so I only use the WIFI to access the internet - is there a way to do this - where in the menu would I do this?
I'm going abroad soon on holiday and am concerned about extra charges on top of my monthly contract so if I use the WIFI in a free hotspot it will not cost me anything when I use the internet browser.

GG, 05 Aug 2009wich one is the best.. this device or samsung omnia pro?Thats a big debate but some say touch pro 2 is more buiness and samsung is more multimedia,,but thats not much help..Both are expensive which makes it a more difficult choice too..I am buying touch pro to put me on because i am personnally waiting for xperia x2..
