HTC Wildfire announced, it's almost a mini HTC Desire

17 May, 2010

Today HTC announced a new Android powered device - the budget Wildfire. It's sort of a mini version of the already available Desire, packing Android 2.1, Sense UI and capacitive touchscreen.

The specs sheet is pretty standard - a 3.2-inch QVGA capacitive display, Qualcomm MSM7225 528 MHz CPU, 384MB RAM plus 512MB ROM, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G with HSDPA support, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack and microSD card slot. The trackpad recently adopted by HTC is also on board. Sounds quite like the HTC Legend, doesn't it.

The Android 2.1 in the Wildfire will be Sense skinned, social-powered and will pack brand-new app sharing widget for posting your impressions on mobile applications via Twitter, SMS or email.

Even if we called it a Desire mini, the Wildfire is only 13mm shorter than the HTC Desire, while the rest of the measurements are the same.

Unfortunately, our experience is that Android OS looks poor on QVGA displays and that would be especially true on a screen that big.

HTC Wildfire will be available in four colors

HTC Wildfire is expected to hit the shelves across Europe and Asia in Q3 this year. It will be available in four different colors for 300 euro.
