HTC's action camera looks like a toy periscope

HTC has sent out invites for October 8 and we were hoping for a Nexus 9 tablet or maybe a water-proof selfie phone but it seems that all the company will unveil is an action camera like GoPro, Sony Action Cam, Contour and others.

Unlike them, however, the HTC cam dubbed RECamera will look like a toy periscope. From two leaked promo images we see a relatively thin cylinder that bends at the top. This form factor allows for easily adjustable mount.

Hopefully HTC has more up its sleeve than a unique (if questionable) form factor. It's a given that the camera will be controllable from a smartphone (it doesn’t look like there's any screen at all on its bent cylindrical body). Zoe-like functionality seems likely too.

HTC hasn’t had a tablet since 2011's Jetstream and the large Nexus line has been mostly neglected so we really had high hopes for the event.
