Huawei announces MateBook 16s, D16, 14 2022, D14 2022 laptops
Huawei held a special online event at which it announced four new laptops and a new monitor. All new laptops are powered by 12-gen Intel processors and are configured with 16GB of RAM, and at least 512GB of storage.
Huawei MateBook 16s
The Huawei MateBook 16s is a real powerhouse. Built around a 16-inch touchscreen IPS LCD of 3:2 aspect, 2520x1680px resolution, 300 nits of brightness, and 1500:1 contrast. It supports 100% sRGB and comes calibrated with an average Delta E of below 1.
Buyers get a choice of 12th-gen Intel H processors - the 12-core (4 performance, 8 efficiency), 16-thread i5-12500H, the 14-core (6 performance, 8 efficiency), 20-thread i7-12700H, and the 14-core (6 performance, 8 efficiency), 20-thread i9-12900H. Graphics are handled by the Intel Iris Xe, as there's no discrete GPU. You get a choice of 512GB or 1TB NVMe PCIe storage, and 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM.
The MateBook 16s has an 84 Wh battery and a 135W charger in the box.
The Huawei MateBook 16s is CNY 6,999 for the i5 model, CNY 7,999 for the i7, and CNY 9,999 for the top-of-the-line i9.
Huawei MateBook D16
The MateBook D16 has the same 16-inch diagonal, but at a 16:10 aspect ratio. The display packs a 1920x1200px resolution, 300 nit maximum brightness, 100% sRGB coverage, and a contrast of 1200:1. There's no touch support here.
It comes with a choice of the i7-12700H, or the i5-12500H processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics, 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM, and 512GB of NVMe PCIe storage.
The MateBook D16 has a 60Wh battery and a 65W charger in the box.
The MateBook D16 is CNY 5,699 for the i5 model, and CNY 6,699 for the i7 model. Pre-orders start today, while the laptop will ship from June 6.
Huawei MateBook 14 2022
The MateBook 14 has a 14-inch 3:2 2160x1440px display with a 300 nit maximum brightness, 1500:1 contrast, and touch functionality.
There are two processors to choose from - the 12-core (4 performance, 8 efficiency), 16-thread i7-1260P, and the 12-core (4 performance, 8 efficiency), 16-thread i5-1240P. The GPU is once again the Intel Iris Xe, and storage and RAM are 512GB NVMe, and 16 LPDDR4x, respectively.
The MateBook 14 2022 employs a 56Wh battery and has a 65W charger in the box.
The MateBook 14 2022 is CNY 6,099 for the i5 model, and CNY 6,999 for the i7 model.
Huawei MateBook D14 2022
The MateBook D14 2022 packs a 16:9 14-inch display of 1920x1080px resolution. It maxes out at 300 nits, has a 1000:1 contrast ratio, and 100% sRGB coverage.
The processors, RAM, storage, battery size and charger are the same as the MateBook 14 2022.
The MateBook D14 2022 starts at CNY 5,299 for the i5 model and goes up to CNY 5,999 for the i7 one.
Huawei MateView SE
The MateView SE is Huawei's latest MateView monitor. Its IPS LCD panel has 23.8-inch diagonal and 16:9 aspect with a 1920x1080px resolution. Maximum brightness is 250 nits, contrast ratio is 1000:1 and you get respectable 90% coverage of the P3 color gamut, and 100% of the sRGB space. Huawei says the monitor comes pre-calibrated with an Average Delta E below 2.
The MateView SE supports AMD FreeSync and maxes out at 75Hz. The monitor can go fully vertical, as well as go up and down by 110mm, and tilt and swivel up to 18-degrees.
Port-wise there's one HDMI, one Display Port, and the power connector, there's no USB-C, sadly. There's an eBook Mode, which imitated paper white for less eye strain.
The Huawei MateView SE will launch at CNY 799.
