very nice phone although am using a third of it with the adapted battery but is very nice looking phone. compared to iPhone 6 Huawei g7 is the best

I have had this phone since 2015 and it is still in an excellent condition. Somehow it appears to be more robust than the P8 Lite that I have had since 2018. Still the original screen and looking really good. The battery does not appear to have deteriorated much over all this time and it will still last a full day.
The only thing I would have liked is a larger onboard memory. Other than that, this phone by far exceeded my expectations and I would have used it for years to come if memory wasn't a problem. I find it difficult to decide between the apps I want to load, as many do not work on the memory card.

I bought this phone huawei ascend g7 since August 2015 and i used it daily. I took good care of it and it is perfect with no scratches ! The operating system is android 5.1 and I'm happy with it ! The battery is still good and it lasts one full day. The camera is perfect. Right now I've seen that is wider than most phones and it helps me when i read books ! This phone was my brother, it showed me so many things, taught me so much and made my life happier ! I love my old smart Ascend G7 ! It works like in the first day !

hi, please help me with my Huawei g7, it won`t download fnb banking app, also it failed to update google etc, any idea, thanks in advance

I got mine since it comes out and still performing better than mor of the nowadays devices i terms of battery and connectivity. Mine is updated to marshmallow and comparing to the kit kat it is feel slower a bit. Overall good quality and decent phone. Very happy

I've been super impressed by this phone lately, dropped my moto x style in a river, lost forever. had to revert to the ascend g7 untill my new phone arrives. and boy have I forgotten how great this phone is. 4 year old device, still get consistent 5hour + screen-on time.
I can still download/use 80% of the appstore.
Even 4g reception and call quality is still ok, never would have thought from a huawei device

I agree with jdawg, XA provides better processor and GPU, Sony usually provides better build quality than Samsung, making the phone last longer, it has DLNA so he will be able to stream stuff to the PC/TV more easily. According to GSM arena the battery on J5 lasts longer... though I always find them testing Sony and huawei phones with incomplete softwares and then they release a new review with the final software at the moment of the release of the phone and the battery ends up lasting way longer... but they don't update the specs chart with that info.
In short, if you plan on replacing your son's phone in a couple years you may go with any of them, if you plan for this phone to last, definitely go with the Xperia.
PS: Xperia XA doesn't have a gyrospcope, so if he's planning on using if for Pokemon GO or for VR,don't buy it.

I have the Huawei G7 L03 North American(Canada) and I cannot update the OS since they never released anything past Android KitKat. So if you're looking for something to keep up with the software that Xperia it is other than that the G7 has a long lasting battery and a nice camera. Hope this helps

best smartphone ever, unfortunately after two years it felt to see, and now is destroyed, but I am sure that it would last and work smoothly for at least two more years, I am looking for samsung galaxy s5, is it better than ascend g7? :)

Hi, I have G7-L11 (I've had this for 2yrs now) and still on KitKat, how to upgrade to the latest version? And what version is it? I'm not really techie, i don't know how to manually update. I love this phone but I hate that there's no ota update especially to people like me who aren't techie. The salesperson are not very helpful. If there are people kind enough to help me thank you in advance.
