Overall, I'd say it is a good phone for its price. However, to name a few issues:
- Touch screen only supports 2 fingers max
- Touch screen stops responding if pressed rapidly when playing games
- Typing is not accurate when in portrait view, only in landscape view
- Android 2.3.6 (Gingerbread) does not support certain apps, such as Google Chrome
- Phone lags when opening large websites, due to the low RAM (only 256MB RAM. should have at least 512MB to run properly).
- Internal memory is too low (only about 146MB), which is probably why a 4GB SD card is included
- Camera is only 1.2 megapixel, does not have flash and picture quality is bad in areas lacking sufficient light
- HD videos (720p, 1080p) lag
- No custom ROM (e.g. CyanogenMod) available yet, due to closed source code of chipset drivers
to name a few pros:
- Dual core CPU is power efficient and makes the phone run smoothly compared to more expensive single core phones
- Fast internet speed on HSDPA+
- Has everything that the average person really needs in a phone (fast internet speed, Whatsapp, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)

Beats me. Bought a Huawei Ascend Y220 (Y220-U00) smartphone just a few months ago at PEP Cell. Went there recently to buy a UHS-II 32GB SDHC SD card and didn't see the Y220 in stock. Perhaps there are still some available because they were being sold in many stores, including MTN, Jet, Edgars, Foschini, etc., all for the same price.

I have rooted my phone and it was working very well up until i tried to reboot it, i dnt knw why it frozen on the logo and i tried to resert it by holding the power key nd the volume up to fix it bt it stil cant pass the logo plz guyz help me

This phone is the best smartphone on the market right now regarding it's low price.it's far much better than it's rival the Samsung Galaxy star.
it runs very smoothly.
the touchsreen is very responsive.
i have installed a new launcher on it and it looks amazing.
i have installed tons of apps (all which work brilliantly)
Have some games in it too.i try to install only those below 100Mb though,just so it runs. without lags.
my only wish is for Huiwei to give us an update to OS 4. though :-)

This thing sucks! The phone recognizes touches even when i'm not touching it, and also the home button presses itself closing my apps and opening google search. both events usually happen at the same time. Sometimes the phone's okay, sometimes is more unstable than a 15 year old girl in her period, the only thing i like about this phone, it's the fact that it let's me play plants vs zombies 2. Even in games the damn phone glitches. 0.5/10 stars and i'm being too generous.

The T9 Type keyboard has disappeared from my phone, only Android & Hauwei Keyboard Settings appear under Language & Keyboard settings. Any idea how to find the old type keyboard? No software updates or any new installations done so can't fathom what happened or why keyboard changed?
