Huawei celebrates 100 million devices with HarmonyOS 4

Huawei launched HarmonyOS 4, aimed at unifying the operating system which is used in smartphones, TVs, and even cars.

Today, the company announced it reached 100 million downloads of the new OS. It includes both newly bought and updated devices and happened in exactly 87 days – averaging over 1.1 million installs per day.

The announcement on Weibo, both on Huawei and Harmony OS accounts, was rather modest without much fanfare. The operating system is clearly the path this company is taking for the future, but we are if it stands a chance of achieving any sort of success in Western smartphone markets with it.

Huawei initially released a list of 69 smartphones, tablets and smart TVs that will get HarmonyOS 4. However, we expect a separate list of globally available devices after the company is done with local updates. So far, only wearables such as the Huawei Watch GT 4 are sold overseas with HarmonyOS 4, and software updates for devices on HarmonyOS 3 have been practically non-existent.
