Huawei continues to lead the Chinese foldable market by a huge margin, Honor follows

Vlad, 11 November 2025

According to the latest IDC report, Huawei led the Chinese foldable market in the first three quarters (January to September) with a very comfortable margin, securing a whopping 68.9% of the pie. In second place is Honor with 11.2% of the market, followed by vivo with 5%, Oppo with 4.9%, and Samsung with 4.3%.

It's interesting to see Samsung making the top five here since in overall smartphone sales it's long been a rounding error in the Chinese market. But apparently Chinese people really like the Galaxy Z Fold7. The foldable smartphone market in China reached 2.63 million units shipped in Q3, which is 17.8% more than in Q3 2024.

If we take the first three quarters combined, shipments reached 7.62 million units in total, which is 14.3% more than in the same period of last year. With this data, IDC predicts "nearly" 10 million shipments for the full year.

IDC says foldables are well on their way to transforming from niche toys for early adopters to mainstream devices, at least in the Chinese market, especially fueled by advances in thinness and lightness over the last generation.

well well huawei china version have 5G and is doing well in china network sometimes better than competitors in DL/UL speed, about SOC it is slower than competitor except Google. but their domestic harmony os optimization is next level

They got basically the best ceramic on foldables, field of view is great, colors are great, there is even usable hi res mode. 1 downside is battery performance, if you dont count gms, since its only slight problem and only for the west
