Its only behind Samsung note 20 ultra and Note 20 in Ranking... Mate 40 pro is number 3..... I understand that Huawei need to work on their screen still wonder why they drop 2k screen after mate 20pro I thought they should continue to give us the best bcus price is quit high this time around.... But again its better for screen to last longer than getting weak after 1year or more... I still prefer Huawei as far ppi is decent.... I dont care about 2K or 3K I just want quality screen that will last longer

Nick.B, 29 Oct 2020Why? Because you probably (I suggest) never seen oppo find ... moreofc its different bro, bcs they use a 10-bit panel instead of 8-bit like others, also p40 pro just have a maximum 520+ nits brightness while the two others go up to 1000+ nits, what I'm asking is why do people complaining about the screen RESOLUTION not how beautiful the screen is

I really hope Huawei truly upgrades their displays. 120 hz 2K display would be awesome for the P50 series. The Mate 20 Pro was a good display at 2K resolution...

Then you will see the difference it is clear with not professionally armed eye. It is day and night difference. Especially compared to Huawei screen even from 2020 or even mate40pro (same panel as p40pro just 0.2" bigger)

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2020The display has never been what Huawei was best at, sadly. ... moreYes correct. Trust me I have qhd+,120hz,hdr10+ (not hdr10 like huawei),1 billion color, o1 ultra vision tech, and other nice display tech in the menus too, and it is day and night when I compare with p40pro (essentially mate40pro has same panel just 0,2 bigger)
It is very sad :( Because I also love Huawei, I will wait p50pro+ or worst case mate50pro+
Until then, stick to oppo find x2 pro (bought it 6 months ago), maybe even go for x3 pro when come out april 2021 and stick 6 months until mate50pro+ hopefully great display on it comming (or huge surprise in 6 months from now on p50pro+)

But nonetheless I tell you this - I turn my screen on, and turn my wife p40pro screen on. It is like day and night. My oppo is from different universe. I am sorry Huawei, but mate40pro is same panel as p40pro just 0.2 bigger and why oh why you upgraded EVERYTHING and kept that st**id 2018 screen panels!

Nick.B, 28 Oct 2020Biggest bummer is not the lack of GMS, but the poor screen ... moreNon of that bothers me. I have the Mate Pad Pro and it is simply amazing ! This thing with lack of GMS only bothers those that are too lazy to install what they need themselvs. I have done that and there is no difference now between my Pad and Samsung phone. Plus, the lack of GMS is very good because GMS consumes a huge amount of battery in standby for nothing. And it has 60hz screen but the quality is very good. I would buy the Mate 40 Pro for the super good camera and for looking a bit different compared to the rest that look the same except iPhone and Google. This is my personal opinion. It has 90hz, it's more than enough for me.

They upgraded EVERYTHING except the screen? That is not smart!
My 1000eur oppo find x2 pro (7 month old model!):
AMOLED, 1B colors, 120Hz, HDR10+, 800 nits (typ), 1200 nits (peak)
1440 x 3168 pixels (~513 ppi density)
1400eur mate40pro not even on sale till november:
OLED, HDR10, 90Hz
1344 x 2772 pixels, 18.5:9 ratio (~456 ppi density)

why do people complaining about missing a qhd+ display resolution? I mean like this phone just 40 PPI below the wqhd+ Note 20u (even if the Note 20u display is 0.14" wider)

Nick.B, 28 Oct 2020Biggest bummer is not the lack of GMS, but the poor screen ... moreThe display has never been what Huawei was best at, sadly. I wish they could make a QHD+ display with 120 hz at least, 1 billion colors will be extra for me. The Mate 20 Pro was heading somewhere, but that ended with a 1080p+ display on the Mate 30 Pro

Biggest bummer is not the lack of GMS, but the poor screen even for 2020 not mentioning 2021. No qHD+, no 1 billion colors, no 120hz refresh rate! I got all of those in my x2 pro and trust me when I put it next to my wife's p40pro it is like night and day (and both phones cost the same including the fact the p40pro has no GMS)! That talks a lot for mate40 series too since they have same as p40pro screen just 0.2" bigger!
