Huawei Mate 60 also goes official with 6.69" LTPO OLED and satellite messaging

Huawei unexpectedly launched its Mate 60 Pro yesterday and the brand has now unveiled the second member in the series with the Mate 60. The non-Pro model shares most of its key specs with its Pro sibling, but there are obviously some downgrades. First off, Mate 60 comes with a single punch hole cutout with the same 13MP ultrawide front-facing camera.

The display on the Mate 60 comes in at 6.69 inches in diagonal (compared to 6.82” on the Mate 60 Pro) and is of the same LTPO OLED variety with a 1,216 x 2,688 px resolution and a 1-120Hz refresh rate. It’s also protected by second-gen Kunlun glass.

The phone is made from the same materials as its more expensive sibling and features the same round camera island on the back. The cameras are slightly different with a 12MP periscope with 5x optical zoom replacing the 48MP one found on the Mate 60 Pro. The main 50MP unit with f/1.4-f/4.0 variable aperture and 12MP ultrawide module are carried over.

While Huawei does not specify the chipset, it is widely speculated the Mate 60 is equipped with the Kirin 9000S SoC just like the Mate 60 Pro. The phone is listed in a single 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage trim.

Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4.0 covers the software side while the battery comes with a slightly reduced 4,750 mAh capacity and slower 66W charging. Mate 60 also supports two-way BeiDou satellite messaging in China.

Mate 60 comes in the same four color options as its Pro sibling – black, white, green and purple. Pricing is set at CNY 5,999 ($824) – exactly CNY 1,000 less than the entry-level Mate 60 Pro. The Mate 60 is listed on Vmall with shipments expected to start on September 17. Huawei has not detailed any plans for an international rollout of the Mate 60 series at this point.
