Huawei Mate 9 pre-sales to kick-off tomorrow

Victor, 03 November 2016

Excitement seems to be at an all-time high regarding Huawei's upcoming Mate 9 flagship and understandably so, since it is expected to launch in an hour. To sweeten the deal even further, a couple of banners were spotted on the streets of China, stating that the eagerly-anticipated device will go up for pre-sale as early as tomorrow.

This probably relates only to the local market, likely leaving us folks over in the western markets with at least some waiting to do./p>

A few official-looking renders from yesterday appear to mostly confirm the existence of a 5.9-inch flat screen model. There's also talk of a more-premium curved screen one, with a QHD panel, as opposed to the former's suggested FullHD one. Some additional renders show a dual-camera on the back - one of those will shoot 20MP stills, the other 12MP. Leica is said to be involved in their development and we might even see some type of optical zoom.

Powering the Mate 9 will likely be the home-grown HiSilicon Kirin 960 SoC. Memory configurations are said to include a basic 4GB plus 64GB one, a 4GB plus 128GB and a top tier 6GB plus 256GB one. Preliminary prices suggest something in the ballpark of $480, $510 and $705, respectively.
