Huawei Mate X 2 to have a stylus, patent reveals

Huawei introduced the Mate X earlier this year and we even got a chance to play with it for a bit. The company’s currently targeting a launch in October, so the R&D department is already shifting its attention to its successor.

A Huawei patent, filed with USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) features like the Mate X was trademarked, but with a compartment for a flat stylus.

According to the rough design and the visualizations, made by LetsGoDigital, the new device will be refined, with a thinner camera/battery setup. Interestingly enough, it is designed to go into a hole that is currently hosting the USB-C port, meaning that it will have to be moved.

Huawei might be patenting the design to protect it from being copied by other companies that are willing to join the foldable world. However, having a stylus is not news for Huawei - it already offers the M-Pen for plenty of tablets and smartphones, including the Huawei Mate 20 X.
