Huawei nova 13i launched with 108MP camera, Snapdragon 680 chipset
Huawei introduced the nova 12i (and a couple of other models) in March 2024. Only the 12i was a new device, the others were variations on existing models. Now the company has quietly added the Huawei nova 13i to its site.
There isn’t much novelty this year. In fact, we’re scrolling through the spec page trying to see what has changed since the 12i and we’re coming up empty.
The Huawei nova 13i (like its predecessor) stands out with a 108MP main camera, but that is the only impressive camera on board – there’s also a 2MP depth sensor on the back and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. And because of the chipset, the main camera is limited to 1080p video at 30fps.
That chipset is the Snapdragon 680 – yes, the good ol’ 680 from late 2021. It’s a 4G chipset and it supports the exact same LTE bands as it did on the 12i. And once again it is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. The one thing that has changed is the OS version that comes out of the box, now it is EMUI 14.2.
Huawei nova 13i in Blue and White
The nova 13i is equipped with a 6.7” LCD with 1080p+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. It has Always On Display functionality, which is a bit unusual for LCD but not new either. The 8MP selfie cam is punch holed into the display, while the fingerprint reader is mounted on the side.
The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 40W SuperCharge Turbo charging – in half an hour, it can bring a dead battery to 62%. The 13i is available in Blue and White, both with gold highlights, specifically the Super Star Orbit Ring around the camera.
We found the Huawei nova 13i in Mexico, where it sells for MXN 6,000 for a 256GB unit (this converts to $290/€280/₹25,000). It’s also available on Huawei Malaysia with a price of MYR 1,300 for a 256GB phone (the currency conversion shows the same numbers).
Thanks goes to our reader for tipping us off!

As an American, that wall never came to fruition. Our relations with Mexico are tense but not as bad as you might think
