Huawei P10 Lite review: Travel light
Travel light
Display
The Huawei P10 Lite packs a 5.2" LTPS IPS LCD panel, a .1" bigger than the P10's display. The resolution stays the same at 1080p, but the pixel density dips down to 424ppi. The resolution is more than enough for achieving an excellent mark in sharpness at this screen size.
Huawei does not mention the type of protective screen glass used for the P10 Lite, so we can't confirm its strengths or weaknesses. It has 2.5D edges and at least looks cool, so there is that. Some markets may be getting the P10 Lite with an additional pre-applied screen protector, but that wasn't the case with our unit.
Huawei has promised an excellent 1500:1 contrast for the P10 Lite's screen, and our test found that the company has delivered on its promise. The IPS LCD panel offered deep blacks and superb maximum brightness of 560 nits leading to the excellent contrast ratio of 1595:1.

Regarding color reproduction accuracy, the P10 Lite screen is less than stellar with an average deviation (DeltaE) of 6.4. The whites and grays are a bit on the cool side (blueish), but you can achieve better color accuracy (DeltaE of 4.5) by opting for the Warm color tone from the P10 Lite's Settings menu.
The display on the Huawei P10 Lite demonstrated average performance in our sunlight legibility test. This means you should probably use the excellent maximum brightness when using it outdoors.

Battery life
The Huawei P10 Lite is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery, which is sealed up. The phone ships with a charger capable of outputting 5V/2, and 9V/2A, which means a maximum power output of 18W.
Using this charger, a 30-minute charging session will re-fill from 0 to 37% of the battery. A full recharge requires up to two and a half hours.
Huawei P10 posted an endurance rating of 62h. That's an average number and we expected more out of the 16nm chipset. Its performance in the individual test routines - video, call, and web - were quite promising but it was let down by its relatively higher power draw in standby.
Our endurance rating stands for how long a single battery charge will last you if you were to use the Huawei P10 Lite for an hour each of telephony, web browsing, and video playback daily. We've established this usage pattern as they are common day-to-day tasks and it allows our battery results to be comparable across devices. The battery testing procedure is described in detail in case you're interested in the nitty-gritties. You can also check out our complete battery test table, where you can see how all of the smartphones we've tested will compare under your own typical use.
Connectivity
The Huawei P10 Lite is a dual-SIM phone (using a hybrid slot means you have to lose the extra line if you need to expand the storage with a microSD card). It offers speedy LTE Cat. 6 for up to 300Mbps down and up to 50Mbps up.
The phone supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n for 2.4GHz and 802.11a/n and ac for 5GHz (it's dual band Wi-Fi). In contrast, the Huawei P8 lite (2017) has dual band Wi-Fi support too, but not 802.11ac.
The rest of the connectivity options on the Huawei P10 Lite include Bluetooth 4.1 LE, NFC, A-GPS, GLONASS, and... even an FM radio. There is no IR blaster though.
Wired connectivity is handled by microUSB 2.0 port. There's no Type-C here like the flagship P10 has. USB On-The-Go is supported so you can connect peripherals. There's no wired TV-out option, but this option is obsolete when you have DLNA support anyway.
Finally, there's a 3.5mm headphone jack and the phone comes bundled with a pair of earbuds.
