Huawei P60 Pro review
Video recording
The Huawei P60 Pro records video up to 4K at 60fps on all of its cameras. Huawei has labeled its stabilization AIS, which refers to AI-aided EIS.
The always-on electronic stabilization works across all shooters, and you can't turn it off. This is why, in video mode each camera has a certain level of cropping, resulting in slightly higher magnification - the 3.5x zoom camera shoots 4x zoomed videos.
The 4K@30 clips have a bitrate of 39-40Mbps, a typical one for such footage. Audio is captured stereo with 96kbps bitrate, and the sound is clean of disruptions and decently rich.
Main camera
The daylight videos from the main camera are good - the footage is noise-free, with accurate colors, good contrast, and a wide dynamic range. The resolved detail, however, is mediocre, and the foliage looks almost upscaled from a lower resolution.
And speaking of stabilization, it works great on the main camera and makes for very well-stabilized footage.
The low-light clips from the main camera are excellent across the board - the color saturation is just right, the contrast and the dynamic range are adequate, and the noise is handled well. The resolved detail is enough here, though we've seen flagships, especially the ones with 1" sensors, do better.
Telephoto camera
The telephoto camera has two zoom levels - 4x and 10x. The default videos shot at 4x zoom are alright - the detail is enough, the noise is low, and the colors are accurate. The dynamic range is quite wide.
The stabilization works well even though walking and shooting are pretty much out of the question.
The 10x (digitally) zoomed footage is usable, even though it's rather poor in detail.
The 4x telemacro videos are impressive! The resolved detail is abundant, the colors are lovely, and so are the contrast and the dynamic range. And there is no noise anywhere. The natural bokeh is a feast for the eyes, too. Enjoy!
The 4x low-light videos from the tele camera are alright. There is a good amount of detail for such a video and good exposure, the noise is tolerable, and the color saturation is good. The dynamic range is not the widest, but it's not bad, either.
The 10x zoomed low-light video is quite bad, with notably low detail.
Ultrawide camera
The daylight videos from the ultrawide camera are great - the footage is detailed even around the corners, with accurate colors and wide dynamic range. There is no observable noise.
There is always-on electronic stabilization available on the ultrawide camera, and it always makes for nicely stabilized footage.
The low-light clips from the ultrawide camera are somewhat underexposed but with passable detail, low noise, and good color saturation.
Selfie camera
The selfie camera benefits from always-on EIS as well, and the videos are stabilized very well. The video quality is solid - the dynamic range is impressively wide, the exposure is just right, the colors are lively and accurate, and there is no noise. The resolved detail is not as impressive as we would have hoped for, but it's of good amount.
