Huawei's Petal Search reaches 18M monthly active users outside China, to hit 60M by the end of the year

Earlier this week Huawei held a briefing with select media representatives to give more updates on the progress of its HMS ecosystem.

Some interesting numbers were reported at the meeting, hosted by Dr. Jaime Gonzalo, VP Consumer Mobile Services and Andreas Zimmer, Head of Product at Huawei Europe - Petal Search, Huawei’s own search engine, is on track to reach 60 million active users outside China by the end of 2021.

During the call, both executives underlined that Huawei is strong outside its domestic market. Currently, there are 18 million monthly active users of Petal Search outside China, with 4 million of them being located in Europe. The accomplishment for Huawei is massive because 12 months ago Petal Search didn't even exist.

The service lets you look for actors or celebrities through an image, as well as products with a quick photo. Also, Dr. Gonzalo reiterated that Huawei is constantly under scrutiny for its safety, but Petal Search has a certificate, issued by the EU, that all the user data is protected and safe.
