Huawei trolls Apple, thanking it "for keeping things the same"

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few hours, you know that today was a big day for Apple. The company announced the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, three new devices that look a lot like last year's iPhone X (from the front, at least).

Huawei didn't take long to respond, cheekily thanking Apple "for keeping things the same" through its official Twitter account.

Obviously, what the Chinese company is implying here is that its upcoming Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro smartphones will be a notch above Apple's latest and greatest. In fact, you should expect Huawei's next flagships to go "beyond consistency", "beyond horizon", and even "beyond intelligence", whatever any of those things may mean.

It's in fact a new teaser for the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro's unveiling event taking place on October 16 in London, disguised as a trolling maneuver against Apple.

Both Mate 20 versions should come with the Kirin 980 chipset at the helm, which is built on a 7nm process just like Apple's A12 Bionic that can be found in its new products. The Mate 20 Pro will have a curved screen and a sizeable notch (not unlike the new iPhones), which houses a 3D face scanner according to past rumors.

On the other hand, the vanilla Mate 20 will go with a 'waterdrop' notch and no such advanced face unlocking tech. Its display panel should also be lower-res than that of its Pro sibling - 1080x2244 vs. 1440x3120. Both phones should get a square arrangement on the back housing a triple camera system with specs probably shared with the array on the P20 Pro.
