The minimum information required is APN, username & password and set the APN type to Internet or Default.

This device supports 2 SIMs but only SIM1 supports 3G (WCDMA) so make sure your SIM is in SIM1 slot for a faster connection

      Looking for help...

I have this phone in the UK - but I cannot make a data connection because it will not load the GPRS settings from the SIM card. I can't find any way of entering the details - which my carrier eventually supplied - manually.

Does anyone have any idea how this could be done?

Bought a second hand one at an unbelievable price from a local store and it works fine. The only problem I face till now is the memory as large apps don't work. This includes Facebook app, G+, etc.

I bought the U8520 Deuce from allphones last year. It is far from perfect but works surprisingly well for such poor specs. It occasionally locks up and needs to be reset. The camera quality is poor and Huawei support is woeful!

Despite its faults, it does exactly as advertised, only 98% of the time. WiFi Hotspot is a great feature and does not need to be rooted first. The Android os is nice to use and the market has mostly everything I had on my previous iPhone.

Overall, I'm happy to continue using it until a high spec smartphone with dual sim arrivals on the market.

Was very interested in this phone until read manual & discovered that it cannot create either a wifi hotspot or a tethered internet connection, unless you root it. :( For your info.

I have had this phone for over a month now, and I have some significant facts that I believe are worth sharing with the community.
First, here is a brief summary of where and how I use the phone (some people might want to use it differently):
                    - the phone works as expected (dual sim standby)
                    - I've used it in Portugal, where I bought it, and I'm currently using it in the US (where I live). I have had my Portuguese sim card (roaming) and my AT&T sim working both here and in Portugal. Quad-band seems to be working just fine.

                    Faults/Defects:

1)It is not possible to configure different ringtones based on sim card (it is however possible to assign different ringtones to different contacts).

2)About the unexpected reboots: when you leave the wi-fi on for a long time the phone can reboot unexpectedly (has happened to me a couple of times in the beginning). I no longer leave the wi-fi on and never I've seen my phone reboot again, current uptime 300 hours.
I do use wlan on occasion (switch it on, use the web, and then switch off).

I would argue that this is a decent phone for the price, however...

                    3) my major complaint is the following: recently contacted the provider that sold me the phone (Optimus) questioning them about when to expect a software update (2.2.2 -> 2.3), to which they replied saying "it will not be possible to upgrade the phone", furthermore adding the following enigmatic sentence "Huawei will not make software 2.3 available".
I'm not sure if there is some sort of fight between the manufacturer and my service provider, but I'm certainly not happy about this. This is completely unacceptable, and I'm actually considering swapping both (manufacturer and provider).

The Samsung Galaxy Y DUOS should be popping out this February, and it seems very similar to this Huawei model.

Hope you find this review useful

So where's the link for the updated software (assuming it exists at all) can't find it anywhere out there, without an update I would not recommend buying this phone as it constantly reboots and the Tech Support is non existant saying they are aware of the problem and are working on a solution .... 4 months later - we're still working on it.

I suggest to update the software to latest version by MicroSD (you should know how to do it...download from Huawei website or ask help from operator ), my restart problem has solved, aha
