Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 is 150m dive-proof and debuts underwater sonar-based communication
Huawei’s Watch Ultimate 2 comes in as the direct successor to last year’s first-gen Watch Ultimate bringing a few key upgrades. It features a similar design to its predecessor with an updated zirconium-based liquid metal case matched with dual-tone nanocrystal ceramic bezels and sapphire glass.
You get a 1.5-inch LTPO2 AMOLED display rated at 3,500 nits peak brightness and 18% thinner display bezels. Ultimate 2 brings a 20ATM water resistance rating (EN13319, ISO 22810:2010), which means divers can take the watch at up to 150-meter depths, 50m more than the first-gen Watch Ultimate.
That’s not all. Watch Ultimate 2 is the first smartwatch to support underwater sonar-based communication. This allows the Watch Ultimate 2 to send out preset messages and emoticons to other watches in a 30-meter radius. It also supports an underwater SOS feature, which can alert devices within a 60-meter radius.
Huawei is bringing a gap antenna system for more seamless connectivity in extreme conditions. The battery is rated at up to 4.5 days of regular usage and 11 days in power-saver mode.
Watch Ultimate 2 gets Huawei TruSense health system and X-Tap sensor for quick and accurate health metrics across 11 health readings, including ECG. The watch boots HarmonyOS 5.1 and supports eSIM, dual-band GPS positioning and BeiDou satellite messaging capabilities for users in China. You can also get on-device calling and music playback.
