Huawei will deliver its GPU Turbo tech to older phones, from flagship to mid-range
Along with the Honor Play Huawei unveiled GPU Turbo – a boost mode for the Mali cores that increases performance by 60% while reducing power use by 30%. The mode is also present on the Honor 9i, but the good news is that it will be coming to a number of other Huawei phones ranging from flagship to affordable.
The mode will be enabled via a software update, no additional hardware is required. Which raises questions about how this was achieved and why it wasn’t available from the get go. It’s mostly phones from late 2017 onward, but even the Mate 9 will get it (a 2016 phone).
Anyway, here’s the schedule:
When | Phones |
End of June | Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, Honor View 10 |
July | P20, P20 Pro and Mate RS Porsche Design, nova 2S, Honor 10, MediaPad M5 Series |
August | nova 3e, Enjoy 8 Plus, Enjoy 7S, Mate 10 Lite, Honor 9 Lite, Honor 7X |
September | Mate 9 Series |
October | P10, P10 Plus and P10 Lite, Honor 9, Honor 8 Pro |
November and later | other phones |

Maybe, huawei boost up the GPU core by overclocking it. but this will drain the battery to much and made so much heat. lowering the resolution and "game mode" the device is much better solution but if the just do that, its not GPU Turbo hahaha

If not a joke, those figures are probably achieved by a drop in quality and/or resolution... that's the only way I know one can chop off that much with a smooth summer update, like their smart resolution thing, but for games.
